That sucks Jim. I have been through this before. I was taken over by two schmucks that I introduced to eachother back in 2000 to 2003. We figured out a way to get my part of the business split off and I came out just fine. It was not easy, but nothing worth fighting for ever is. Best of luck and keep your head up high. You deserve it. Marty G.
This is actually terrible news, especially considering summer is just around the corner...Can not imagine you without your speedy....
sell one of those giant English land rovers and be done with it..
We got Solvang, Palm Springs among other adventures coming up this summer....
If the speedy must go, there is most likely no better place to sell it than Morro Bay, where the fever can catch somebody after seeing so many gathered.....
But I gotta warn you, from personal experience, you will miss the $hit out of it, once it's gone....
Good Luck Bro

little hijack....
I went on theSamba this morning and in the ghia section classifieds, my old lowlight was apparently stolen in Venice Beach over the weekend....The guy was devestated as you can imagine, but to his credit, after he bought it from me, had LoJack installed and they recovered it this afternoon...don't know what condition it was in, but I will report when I find out...
LoJack works....
Jim,
Sorry to be adding to the already long list of condolences and screwing up your classified ad, but it does suck to hear this news. Not so much about the car, but about the BS with your partner and lawyers, etc... nobody should have to go through that crap, especially someone as laid back and cool as you.
There will be other speedsters.
Cory 'VWsnaps' - The car is titled as 64VW but it's been so long since I've looked at the Pink that I'll need to double-check about the VIN. I'll send you a PM (I'm in SoCal).

To all my brethren SOCers, thanks for the moral support. My attorney and CPA both tell me the if they had a dollar for every partnership gone bad...you know the rest. Funny how money changes people, and my partner was a good friend, which is why I brought him onboard. If I didn't have a loving family counting on me, I would have forgone the consequences and punched him so hard his grandkids would be born dizzy (IF he regained consciousness)! I digress...

This car has been more fun than any of the P-cars I've owned through the years (or any other car for that matter). Its been a great car, peace of mind with trouble-free cruising since the day I bought this thing. Its new owner will experience the same.

Anyway, if things work out in my favor after all the litigation ($$$) this a-hole is forcing upon us, I will definitely buy another Speedy replica (maybe even an IM). If not, then maybe a Yugo! :-)

Peace - Out!

Jim---I just saw this thread and hate that this is happening to a real stalwart of Speederdom. I hope that this issue gets quickly resolved and that a satisfactory settlement can be arranged before a trial is necessary. You have a lot of friends and admirers praying for a good resolution for you with this issue. Guys like you are winners and you will prevail in this.

See you at Morro Bay.
Jim,

So sorry to hear about your troubles with your partner. I'll be sending good thoughts your way for a quick and positive resolution.

Also, Vince is right. (Sorry to all that I had to say that.) Someone will catch the fever in Morro Bay and your speedy will find a good home. (Not that I know anything about catching the fever and buying a speedy on a whim.)

Jen

Jim, my egg sammich eatin' CPAP rooting section and general good person and friend, what everybody said X 2. You know that all of the concerns expressed, mine included, are genuine. Nobody deserves what you are going through and I hope the resolution is "speedy" and satisfactory. You are one of us my brutha.
I am humbled by the response of support! I certainly appreciate everyone's positive thoughts.

With all things considered, unloading the Speedster is my best option at this point.

Several years ago we moved Ginny's mom (now 95 y.o.) from 'coal-town' Pennsylvania to live with us. Funny thing is, she's probably in better medical health than I am!!

My 'beater' Rover, in all its awesomeness, has a market value less than $5K (a drop in the bucket of my anticipated legal fees). Besides, its configuration (ride-height, difficulty getting in/out) eliminates it as a viable mode of transport for Ginny's mom (Dr. appointments, shopping, etc.).

That leaves Ginny's car as our only current viable means of transport for mom. Besides, I'm guessing a quick sale would be more probable for a uber-cool Speedster than a gas-guzzling luxury SUV.

I will be posting the Speedy on the Samba and Craigs List this week.
