Looks like a great way to put a 901 series trans in a Speedster.

The links are in that first page but they're not readily apparent. They will take your transmission in exchange for a 901 or a 914 5 speed. Well, your transmission and $2,750 Euro or $3,203 US.
Or, you can buy a new nosecone for your 901 or 915 and some motor mounts you'll have to fab mounting points for. Looks like ~500 or 700 bucks for a nosecone and a mount. Bellhousing mount has to be changed for a 915, but I think a 901 would work with the VW bellhousing mounts.
Their nose cone (239 Eu) and front trans mount (229 Eu) look nice. Nose cone is mor compact so no VW chassis hacking or moving engine rearward. That's $780 plus shipping (near Frankfort).
$3200 for a Porsche transaxle with $1000 worth of special parts and probably another thousand dollars worth of bearings and internals, built by German technicians, strangely seems like a pretty good deal.

A 901 is a good transmission, once you get out of the first gear dogleg. It was designed for racing, where you are normally just using gears two to five, in the H pattern.
So that is a cast trans support?
Let's not forget about freight to/ from Germany, 2x, one for the transmission and one to send the core to Germany. $$$.
This is the DIY article on installing the 901 in VW pan. Note the home-made looking front trans mount where the cast German one is much nicer.

Yes, it is cast. I have a PBS nosecone on my type1 swing trans(for mid-engine only). It is cast as well, then machined. It is plenty strong, if that is what you are after, Bob.
I believe cast aluminum to be stronger than billet machined, but less so than a forging.
