Great article in the latest 356 Registry Magazine. I imagine it has the purists foaming at the mouth. This guy from the eastern area, PA I think, drove out to the 50th anniversery this summer on the back roads or Blue Highways with a real Speedster powered by a modified VW
engine. I believe it was a 2200+ CC with all the goodies. He was raving about the power it provided over the mountains in Colorado versus a real struggle with the same car with the Porsche engine a couple of years before.

With the cost of a authentic Porsce engine rebuild this may be the way to go, added bonus of more power! Win, Win!

I know at Parts Obsolete this June and at the Thunderhills races I got a lot of inquiries about our replicas from 356 guys. I think a lot of them are starting to realize the fun and economy our mounts represent.

That is my thoiught exactly. My next car, a winter winter driver for the rain will be a 356 coupe, which I will pull the original motor out of and store and insert a 2110 and then----gasp, since sunrood coupes bring three times what a coupe does cut a hole and insert an earrly VW sunroof. I can hear then sobbing in to their Bier Steins!
