Alan,

I still have the 1600 cc short block that came from Vintage in by Black Speedster

complete short block /no heads w/flywheel. less than 100 mi.w/ (new,as delivered) Mexico case

I also have a 1970's (single port) core. I don't think the case is cracked, but I haven't torn it down. Complete pulley to flywheel, single port heads, no cooler, tin or carb(s). It was the one that came from the donor car on my Red/Tan Speedster.

Let me know if still interested

Greg

Alan,

Yes the pistons and barrels are still on the case. It has alternator stand, oil pump, oil cooler,  (dog house type), flywheel, clutch assy. I robbed the sheetmetal, heads and intake system off of it.

The case is Hencho in Mexico 8mm head stud case.

It only has a couple of miles on it. I put my own motor in the Vintage I had the week after I got the car. It's been sitting since 2001.

Reasonable offer, and it's yours.

I have something else you may be interested in.

An Align bore bar and 2 sets of cutters (set up for .020 and .040 over) and thrust cutter. You can set or reset to whatever size you want. It comes with a micromoter tool setting stand. It's portable, hydraulic feed driven by electric (I always used my air) drill motor.

I LOVE my Abarth. I put all the bolt on electronic ECM and Throttle control stuff on it.

It was fast in stock form, Now it's FAAST!

In stock form the Exhaust note is a bit much. I've driven it to Calif from PA twice now, so the noise, even after adding FAT MAT to the interior was more than I like on long trips.

I just put a Magnaflow cat-back system that includes a Muffler on it to quiet it down a bit. I don't notice performance hit and it's a lot less harsh sounding. I had Highway Patrol a couple of times in my cross country runs, just sit on my corner at highway speeds. I guess they were deciding if they should give me a ticket for noise or not.
I didn't get any tickets, but I don't like that kind of recognition.

I heard in MA they're writing tickets on Abarths for excessive noise. They come stock with NO muffler.

I lowered it with Eibach springs, so you do feel the stiffer ride. Plus it's a short wheelbase, which adds to all that.

I have several sets of tires for it. The stock 3 season tires are pretty hard, so I bought a set of generic all season tires for my trips... those ride a little softer.

I also have a set of Federal (stickey) tires for it.. Those ride the softest and best handling. The Federals knock about 2-3 mpg off.  I usually get 30-32 mpg combined driving. On the road..34-38 mpg.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm always amazed when I see it parked. It looks REALLY small, but it doesn't feel small when driving it.

It has a few quirks, all minor, like the rear window washer dribbles sometimes????

And the clock gains a couple of minutes a month?  How can an electronic clock be fast?

My wife has a fiat 500 Sport and it's clock LOOSES  a couple of minutes a month.

 Greg
