VINCE PASS THAT JOINT AND STOP BOGARTING IT
Addition of the engine will lower it quite a bit.
But yes, Gerd is too high ;-)

ok, i've been waiting patiently for 5 weeks for the motor. I ordered the car in mid may. How long should a motor take ?
With some builders like Jake Raby, six months is normal.
Nick, after you get that baby dumped then come join us on the runs.. it should look pretty sweet...

Nick, Roland does quality work. 5 weeks not long for small shop. I am going into my 5th month and still waiting for my car to get painted. Oh well, at least you live in warm all year driving climate.
Motor is going in today!
Cool! You could be enjoying it this weekend!
No run this weekend....Nick will have to wait patiently for the next one....
My guess is monday or tuesday I will be able to drive it home

Nick, that's GREAT!
Remember that you're going to have to follow the break-in instructions on that engine! (Maybe it's best you don't have to worry about keeping up with all those crazy dudes on your first couple times out in the new car.)

Cory,
Break in is the next question. I'm new to VW motors. So far I have planned on
Not running it on the freeway at the same rpm. Vary the rpm as much as possible
Changing the oil after 300 miles
After 500 miles I can drive with more consistent rpms
Change the oil at 1300 miles
Change the oil at 3000, at that time adjust the valves and carbs.
Anyone know a good VW mechanic in the San Fernando Valley?
