I'm actively looking for a car. If I'm inadvertently stirring the pot... well that wasn't my intention. I'm working with Henry, and there are some interesting options. The reason for stating upfront that I'm prepared to pay a good price is that I don't want to waste time. If anyone out there has a great car that they might be contemplating selling, then maybe my post will throw up another good option for me and for them.

In answer to the question about original Porsches - I've looked at 'the real thing'. I guess like many of the people on here, I've looked at these cars for years, and wondered. The truth is, as has been stated here before, even $100,000 - $150,00 doesn't buy a great example, and even if it did you might be scared to take it out of the garage.

Best wishes to all of you.

John.
You guys don't see the $50,000 real GS Speedsters for sale because you run with the wrong crowd. Over on 356TALK, home of the real men of PORSCHE, original, pristine Carrera Speedsters change hands all the time in the $25,000-$50,000 range. But these cars are bought and sold between inner circle "real" buyers, not riff-raff like us. These are quiet deals between men of wealth and taste, not unwashed serfs like you and I. I learned a long time ago to just accept my fate and buy an Intermeccanica. I'll never be cool enough, or rich enough, or thin enough to own a real 356.
