Anyone know where I can get a luggage rack? Vintage Speedsters sells them for $175, but I'm wondering where they get it from. Been surfing the internet with no luck.

That's a sweet luggage rack for way short money, considering! I've got one and totally preferred it over the AMCO rack that came with the car. I doubt that you'll find better elsewhere. Maybe a used MGB rack somewhere or that kinda thing, but nothing of real quality that fits the 356 contours like the VS rack does.

I have an original Leitz luggage rack with new rubber and mounting hardware. Like new.

Ross, if your looking for a good fit and support then go with Kirk at Vintage, if your just a price guy then search Ebay or thesamba.. BUt I'd go with Vintage. oh I did... LOL... $175.00 is very inexpensive for the look and quality...

I thought someone posted awhile back that the VS racks were no longer chromed? I looked into the VS one years ago - but was told it would not fit with the CMC grille (due to diameter of mounting legs) - that it would require trunk lid cutting to fit a VS grille in. I like the old AMCO ones but the didn't seem to be very popular as you rarely see one available.

$375 plus shipping. It is not what they call show quality but it is 95% or better.
If I see a VS rack, I probably can come up with an easy way to retro it through a CMC grill.
"Easy way" would be to weld a glob of aluminum at each corner of the hibachi grill then to grind it, drill holes for the VS rack legs and then shorten the legs maybe 4", The grill itself would then take the weight of the rack. There isn't enough room to get the legs of the rach tru the grill wilthoug total removing the support for a grate in all 4 corners.

Thanks for all the replies. I think the guys in favor of the VS rack are right. It's a nice looking rack for a good price.
David ... nice ride. Looks alot like mine. Is it a VS? I just bought mine used and I'm trying to figure out if it's a VS.

The seats and dash look like a VS, so I'd say that's what you have.
Ross, your's looks like the younger bother of mine... LOl it's awesome my friend... At first I wasn't into the "Red".. but the more I saw them the more I liked it... I enjoy unique things.. that's why I like Jimbo and Vince here... As far as the VS mold.. It looks a lot like one even down to the doors. I do not have AC so I couldn't tell you about that, but the rest looks like a VS model.. I'd call Kirk and give him your ID or VIN number .. He'd be able to match it if it is in fact his production model...
Ross, congrats on the car and I hope to see you soon...
