Alan,

If you want an original-looking set like Bill Drayer has on his car they have them at the VW place in Laurel (I think that's the location - the one on the east side of the Wshington beltway). If I recall they had a pretty reasonable price on them.

If you want REALLY nice ones the M&M 356 Goodie Store has 'em (www.356goodiestore.com/catalog/):

"These Nerf bars are of the highest quality "polished stainless steel"; designed and manufactured here in California.
They are not plated, and therefore will last indefinitely.
"A" Sets of 4 - $495; "B" & "C" sets of 4 - $475". :>)
Yup, Bill's got it right - the CMC's were a solid, thinner diameter. The EMPI's are a wider diameter tube and longer (believe they are hollow) - like Bill's and Joe's.

Hey Joe, how's that build coming? The last photos are looking very complete. Don't worry about being perfect, button it up and bring it to Carslisle - shoot for perfect next year if necesasary!

There you go!!!! I was just WAITING for Bill to post that one again!!

The "War of the Knees" is on!!

Think we can have a Carlisle award for the best knees??

At least you can now see the Nerf Bar Difference!!

(P.S: I think Bill looks more enthusiastic!!)

gn

P.P.S: Bill: Those are HUGE friggen Nerf Bars!!

P.P.P.s: Bill - you need to get an Hawaiian shirt!

LOL!! This is the only knee shot I have (that's me in the center holding the envelope with a bunch of the Left Coast guys). I know it wasn't taken at Carlisle but can I use it?

BTW, it's supposed to be so hot at Carlisle this year I might have to wear my yellow thong - unless my wife has something to say about it! Maybe the wives and girlfriends would enjoy a butt contest. Okay, just a thought.

Bill, I have had a slight setback. An April fool I really was! It was one of those weekends were someone interupted you every hour. Well to make the story short I was fitting up my passenger door . Decide to get it out of the way so I put it a safe place. The back of the Chevy Avalanche looked like a good place. Not in the payload area but on the rear hard cover. It was out of reach from the kids. So it was safe ! Well I worked long through the night and called it quits! Next morning 4:30 am bright-eyed and bush tailed .. yet right! I get in the Chevy and go to work . What door? You can't see anything through the rear window. Well I got a 1/4 mile away from the house , made a right turn and heard a crash. Yes it was the bloody %*^*^(*( door. I had to move quick to retrieve it from the county road. This really screwed up my schedule now. Minor glass damage ...paint is another story. Oh well I won't do that again.I'll post more pictures later after I cool off.
OUT
Joe
Reminds me of a jerk I ran across last week. On my way to work I look over and the gal in the car next to me had left her briefcase on the roof of her car. I waved, honked and pointed to the top of her car. Well she flipped me off swung hard right into the next lane and dumped the case in the road. Dummy didn't evnen notice and kept going. Her day probably didn't get much better. Oh well....
Building a MGTD replica some time ago, I set the rear body section
(part that has the spare mounted to it) onto the back of the TD body for a final fit, I had just mounted the spare tire and the hasps that secure it to the rear car.
After cleaning up, I decided to run it around the block ...
first gear .........second gear....... Bam ..Boom ..Boom ..,, as the rear body section parted company with the TD body...Neighbor commented how nicely it bounced down the road!
