Wanted: Winshield header for convertible top

OK, after airing my drenched car out for two days after the ride back from Carlisle, it's still not dry, so I'm looking for the windshield header for a convertible top for a CMC or VS to complete the top and get it mounted. Enough is enough.

Anybody got one kicking around? I could trade a rear cowl cover for it (see picture in nichols1)

Gordon: Save yourself a LOT of headaches and don't use a CMC header. They don't fit worth a S**t. Vintage sells them and am told they work. Another member did this a little while ago. It took me an entire Sat. to make my CMC part work. If your lucky, maybe someone has a used Vintage piece laying around

Hey Gordon!

Bill is 101 percent correct.... the older CMC header is for fly swatting and that's about all! It has much too much of a radius and won't fit. ( I know Bill spent some quality time hogging it out to fit !) Forcing it will fleece you our of some hefty windshield funds too!
Do as I have done.... dip in ye ole' pockets and get yourself a VS header bow that has the clips already installed.... well worth it !

you guys are crazy, my CMC header bow is perfect. the first real rain i got caught in was during a 1200 mile drive from NY to Fla. somewhere in Ga it started to pour. my brother and i could not stop laughing at the amount of water that was coming down on us from the top of the windshield. Like a waterfall straight onto our legs.

The tears of laughter were quickly washed away by the rain, but it was priceless nonetheless.

What seems to happen is that over time, an uninstalled bow bends on it's own ( contracts slightly) from non use thus it doesn't fit.

Good point. We were towing Fern back from Carlisle and in Mahwah, NJ ( I think thats Sioux for 'where the frigging rain starts') the downpour started all the way to Montreal and my car leaked from the bow...

Enough to FRY the radio that is hidden under the dash.

At Carlisle I saw some black bows, mine is fibreglass color. You know without the paint. Is that (the black ones) the VS bows? Seems to look nicer.
