Gentlemen,

I would appreciate any leads on a set of OEM 356 Gauges, vdo '56 through '63, with the speedometer in Km/h.  My build is having some OEM parts and this is one of them. Probably will need to restore but a well priced not so shot set is a good start. Preferably with clock too.  Any and all leads are more than welcome.

Thank you!

JB

I learned how to drive in the Dom Rep at age 10, on an old 70s VW beetle my godmother used to own. (unbeknownst to my parents obviously) it was in KM/h, the first porsche I ever saw in my life was there, also KM/H, it was love at first sight. Plus I figured the speedo in KM/h will give me an excuse with the state troopers if they ever pull me over for 'speeding'.  I also want the mile/km count on the old mechanical look, not digital. The JPS Coupe that VM sold recently which I test drove was in KM/h as well.  I'm also having the speedo on the right like on Marty's IM, I like it better there for my field of vision.  Thanks for the dash shot Marty, exactly the look I am envisioning.

Gotta find those gauges though.

Thank you gentlemen. Looking forward to this year long deal....more to come.

Original gauges are on E-bay all the time. Most need rebuilding. I used North Hollywood. Since they go thru them completely with new trim rings and faces you can buy the real junky looking ones for cheap. What is cool is to use a 912 tach, it's a larger size but still matches the early faces. When all is said and done and you'll have brand new looking original gauges and you'll be north of $1,000. All tachometers can be converted to electric...

Thanks guys. I really do not want the lcd screen on the Speedo, that is the issue. Plus here in Miami Beach I already know the cops will pull me over just to take a peak at the car. They do it all the time with Lambos and Ferraris to see if they catch a celebrity driving one.  Like I said, no one drives a classic daily here or even rarely seen on weekends. Herbert maybe but he is on Ocean Drive where only tourists hang out. If you are a resident you stay away from tourist traps as much as possible. My daily commute (as of 2 months ago) is on a 30mph residential road, that is 48 KM/h so to keep it safe will drive at 45 K/h. back and forth is less than 7 miles.  Before then I lived 4 blocks away so walked to work.

I work anywhere between 10 to 14 hours a day in the office so really just want to get home after I'm done or if I go happy hour I leave the car at Office garage and Uber it home.

Tom, I appreciate the words of wisdom, but will take my chances, its important to me that the instrument cluster look as period correct as possible. I already went Suby which is not really what I wanted to do but since I need A/C plus Miami Beach is hot as hell for 5 months don't want to be dealing with Carb calibrating and other nuisances as I'm not mechanically inclined. I just want to turn the key and go.
