Wanted, a new set of Aero mirrors

Looks like they are $60 bucks each on the "reasonable" sites but just in case someone has a set they don't want anymore. Amazing how much some of the other sites mark stuff up. I just got a pair of rear tail lights (assemblies, lenses, and gasket for $110 less this month's special from PayPal (10% off up to $100) while some sites charge $129 each. Yes, the midwest rust monster "ate" those too on my new transplant.

Don't compare the no-name TAIWAN ones with the non DOT approved lenses(some states check) to the German SWF TUV/DOT approved ones though. The chrome and rubber will be gone in year or two on the Asian replicas - plus the red plastic fades to pink.

Fred---a warning for you---be certain that you don't get stuck with two driver's side mirrors because a drivers side one won't work on the pass side!

There is one company selling genuine Aeros that are a left side and a right side---let me know if you need the name & I'll dig out the info.----Jack

Thanks Jack. They are on my "list" but down it for now. I see how crappy the Chinese ones are from the one on it. As I took off stuff yesterday, though, the fear of my life came to me when I saw that the front turn signals were LUCAS..................out my god! The spirit of British Leyland rides again. My MGB's taught me that lesson. The motto of the San Diego MGB club is "misery loves good company". I really always wondered how much Luftwaffe knocked down spitfires in the Battle of Britain and how much fell into the channel because of failure of Lucas electrical parts?

Lucas - Prince of Darkness!

The Lucas factory packed smoke in each and every electrical component, sooner or later, they all leak smoke.

awww.....nothing wrong with Lucas.

I remember that all I had to do on my Wife's Austin Healey 3000 was remove both (that's right, only two) fuses and clean them off each spring and they lasted for another year.

Never leaked smoke, either (although one got a little cloudy - maybe had too much smoke in there in the first place!

I have 2 Hella 4004GT mirrors in black. They are similar to the Talbot Berliners. I'll send photos if you like. I'll be adding the mirrors to the this forum at a later time.

Thanks for the offer Gordon...............I remember those mirrors. I used to have them "way out on the fenders" on an MGB years ago. They probably offer better visibility than the Aeros but I think I am still trying for a stock look. Again thanks for responding.

I got mine through a local guy in the US and it landed at my door for under $60 shipping included. The Quality is top notch and is not at all nasty looking, if you can wait till next week, I can get the details when I pick them up.

Thanks, I have LOTS to accomplish before I get to the mirrors so take your time. As an earlier post said, make sure right and left and NOT the same.
