Hello Dave. I have an 05 Vintage speedster that Im going to put up for sale by the end of the year. The car is now being professionaly painted because I could no longer stand the waves in the body that appears after the fiberglass cures. The color is called sea foam and the gentleman that owned the car had seen Kirks wifes car and wanted the twin to it. It has a 1915 motor with dual solexs, freeway flyer trans, leather interior, speedster seats,cd,carpeted trunk, full and half tonnue covers,Nardi wheel, bumper guards, luggage rack, and AIR CONDITIONING! It has 7000 miles and runs and drives perfect with no rattles or squeaks. The paint work will be incredible.(this guy is unreal!) Price will be $18000. If intrested you can call me at 304 428 6966 or e-mail at p3561@msn.com
Hello David. I don't have a car to sell but would like to let you know that there are other owners in Tennessee. Perhaps after you have acquired your car we can plan a cruise at some point in the future. Where in TN are you located?

At this point, we have owners in East and middle TN and it would be great to put together a drive. Also, it might be interesting to enlarge the run to Carlisle, PA., next May. Keep me in the loop.

If we're in the same place as we were for the 2006 meet, we'll be in the replica section, surrounded by GT-40s, Bug-used-to-bes and lots of other fun, if oddball, cars. And, for the most part, everybody on that end of the grounds, farthest from the gate (it seems), has pretty common technology at work. My Hoopty wasn't even running last year, and people still wanted to see it. I had a ball.
There's plenty to talk about, look at and even poke over, and the people are as cool as cucumbers.
I think VW folks generally are.
David, the Carlisle show is one of the largest kit car meets in the country. There till be everything there from 70's era Bradley's to new $100k Kirkham Cobra's. Some of the race car replicas are mind-blowingly gorgeous. It's truly car-guy nirvana. The show is also paired with an import car show. Last year's featured marque was VW. It's really worth going to. And if you don't have a Speedster by then you can compare a lot of them side-by-side to better figure out what you want. It's what I did - and look where it got me :-).

Not to mention some of the best gearhead folks you'll ever quaff a refreshing adult beverage with.

Check out www.carsatcarlisle.com (I think) for a schedule of events.

By the way - where are you in Tennessee? My wife and I are from Memphis, but want to wind up in the Knoxville area in the next few years.
I will proudly represent the Ghetto Cruiser Modified Mutt Class, sporting a Classic Motor (Mis)Carriage, turned 2006 JSR Outlaw. (Almost ANY other CMC is a better car than mine was; I just got a particularly poorly garage-built example and hacked it up.)
And Lane will honor his promise and demonstrate how to break traction on startup, using said Mutt.
Wont'cha, Lane?
David - I'm a little late on the string, but I'll agree that the Carlisle show is an ideal venue to try out many of the makers. I was there last year and saw, sat and rode in almost all of the various cars. The folks you meet there are top shelf, treat visitors well, and answer any question you may have. (They even answer questions that you haven't asked, but should have!) I urge you to take advantage of the opportunity.

I ended up buying my speedie less than one month after my visit! (By the way, if your spouse also attends, I would suspect that the speedsterowners.com folks will convince her that this is "good thing".)

PS to Hoss - I lived in North Carolina for several years and the Dragon and the Blue Ridge Parkway were staples in my decompression motorcycle rides. Gosh, I miss those roads!
