Wanted: Cheap Running VW Engine

I am looking for an old, CHEAP, running VW Type I engine. I guess an old 1200/1300 would be best. I strongly prefer something that will fit right into a Spyder with no mods. The more complete, the better.

Something in Southern California, San Diego to be exact, would be ideal.

You're probably in the worse place to pick up a cheap VW engine -- on northern east coast there are (becoming were) lots of rusted out VWs. I paid $75 for one -- and then was given 2 more by different folks who heard I would tow them off (a couple years ago). Rust means no heat and no pass inspection so they are junked. Aren't there abandoned ones out in the local desert -- I alsways see pictures of them surrounded by Cactii. Look in local auto trader or even ebay.

Now, if you were located in B.C. I could sell you a 1600 real cheap. I have one sitting on my work bench....heads off (one is cracked..of course) and it needs a new carb.....is this the start of a mew speedster?
