I've not followed through with everyone yet, but yes, my seats turned out really nice. I will post pictures for all. Bottom line, she wants $250 for sewing a pair. (CMC replica speedster seats.) Not 914, but the little buckets with two vent holes in the back. I spent about $50 on top quality vinyl, so you wind up with about $300 in a nice pair you put on yourself. Way better than $600 for a pair, or paying some interior shop $800 to $1K to do it.

" I had.... a set of CMC black covers that sat for three or four years and finally tossed them out"

WHAT !?!?!?!

From NOW on, you tape a piece of paper between the garage and the "toss them out" section of your yard. On that note you write, "Find out of TC wants this!" Every time you pass by that note with a handful of Speedster stuff, you get in touch.

I'll be expecting regular emails from you . . .
if terry doesn't want those - i will paypal you the money ASAP!!

That is exactly the colour i need. i have the rear seat cover, dash covers, and all door panel parts in that colour.

The front seats i have were from the CMC deluxe kit and are recaro style with headrests. i don't like they way they look as i am going a vintage theme. I was going to get a set made, but this is exactly what i am looking for!!

She has a leather machine, but she is gaurded about it. I thought about it too. But for now, no. I think she believes leather does not have enough bias in it. I should have talked her into it for me, but I went with her recommendation. I'd never try something untested with one of your $150 hides. I even found a good place to buy 45 sq. ft. hides here in Dallas.

Jack - Was hoping to see some photos of your seats on your SO photo page. The dislike I have for the original CMC cover is that they made the seat cushion and the back out of a a single piece of vinyl. Suspect that's simpler to make but doesn't seem to fit or look great. I'd like to see seams from side to side say 4" back on cushion and then every 2" or so (kind of a vertical rolled and pleated). Result would be like the 914 seats. Additionally would be nice if the perforated or waffle vinyl could be used for the seat contact area.

I am getting quotes now for 2 complete interiors here in Thailand based on my CMC patterns. Ultraleather is very nice material and the best price I find in the US is 48.00 yard at 54" wide. By the time I land it in Thailand the cost doubles, but this is what I am using on my own car.

If using local materials the cost per yard is a fraction of Ultraleather buy nowhere near the quality.

Labour is cheap here, and quality is good. Freight will be the issue but post is reasonable.
If anyone is intrested let me know, and I will pass it on at my cost.

Anyone know how many cow hides it would take? Know the irregular shape results in waste - but then if more smaller panels were used the smaller pieces could be used (just more sewing). If you paying near $100 per yard would think that is comparable to leather cost? As impractical as leather will probably prove to be - I'd like a rich red leather. First time caught in rain with white pants on will probably convince me it was bad idea as suspect they will have a pink seat. Is there a special finish on leather I should look for or avoid?
The seats are made up of so many small pieces, you don't have a lot of waste on a hide. I can ask Linda, but when I was looking at it she thought a smaller hide, like 50 sq. ft. would have worked. Really, you can estimate it yourself pretty easy.

Look at the one side of the seat. Measure those pieces. Multiply by 4. Look at the center back and base. Multiply those two pieces by 2. Remember to allow about 3 inches overlay on the side pieces, and 3 inches overlay on both the top and bottom of the center pieces.
