I am looking for a green dial Blaupunkt Frankfurt for conversion by S&M into a classic look modern radio. If you have a non working but good cosmetic condition unit or want to sell a working unit for a good price, let me know please.

The guts will be taken out and a 4 channel modern motherboard will be installed.

For competition cars (during the 90's), my dad used to take stock AC Delco head units, and swap the guts for an Eclipse or Alpine CD player. This was before CD players were standard equipment, so he would even cut a slit in the face for the CD's to insert. Probably his best one was in a GMC Typhoon. Pretty slick for an old man. I'd like to see how the old Blaupunkt looks when it's in the car!
Please don't confuse "extremely expensive" with "right".

Any amplifier (it's not a motherboard) that fits in a vintage stereo is going to be underpowered, by a lot for an open car, no matter what the claimed wattage is. If you absolutely *must* have the knobs do something then have it made into a preamp, but if you want to use a DAP this is not necessary.

I like having no hole in the dash or blob under it; and also no visible stereo to tempt thieves.

thanks guys. I saw Howard's radio and was suitably impressed so am going that route. I did consider doing it myself but time is more precious than money right now (within MY reasonableness test of course) so S&M in Minn is my choice for a rebuild. I just do not want to pay $300 or more for a refurbed unit that I am going to have teh guts pulled out of and replaced.

Tomm, There is a real pretty vintage Blau on e-bay as we speak. Ebaymotors, parts 356 speedster and you can see several. I am adding an 8in subwoofer, which will fit in the front boot. Perfect spot for it, with its own amp for power. He's done it in several other cars, gives you the low end, for the Rap music you like to listen to. The MB quart 51/2in in front and 61/2" in the back should give me some sound. Im afraid with that flat 6 Porsche I'm putting in, the best sound will be through the exhaust. When I get tired of that, I'll plug the Ipod directly to my estachion tubes!
