I know that the discussion of new badges "without the bold sentiment" emblazoned on the first badges has been discussed extensively, and that eventually, if the numbers demand it, a new badge wil be produced after another round of of endless discussion.

That's the way of a consensus.

However . . . personally, I would MUCH prefer to have one of the first badges with the original bold statement so fitting of the original Speedsters.

If there is anyone planning on "updating" to the new badge when it's produced, or if there's anyone who doesn't feel that the original sentiment still applies to their sedentary AARP way of life

. . . PLEASE, either sell me that badge NOW, or set it aside for ME (NOT PAT ! ! ! ) and sell it to me when the new badges are manufactured. Put my name on it this afternoon so you won't forget. Another all-too-real part of that AARP lifestyle . . . a lot of "what?" and "who? and "when?" begin appearing in your conversations.

I like the "sell it to me NOW" option . . . . personally . . . . while you still remember this post . . .

Thanks!

TC
Maybe I am missing something, but why is it not possible to just have more of the same badge produced by the same person who produced the one you are all trying to buy? I'd get on that list; and perhaps enough people would do likewise that we could be assured of meeting any minimum order requirement. Who arranged for them to be produced when they were last available?
Pat,

Coming from a fairly large and extended family, all in a single triple decker, I live and die by the "squeeky wheel get's the grease" moto. In my world it's, ME ME ME ME . . . and then a little more ME for good measure. But I'd never step ahead in line here.

I hope that you took my posts with the humor that was intended. Of course you're first . . .

:)

Is their any makers mark on the back of the badge? If we could locate the manufacturer, suspect we could order up another 100 or so. As much as I'd like to see it redesigned, you have to be very careful not to violate copyrighted logos like the Porsche crest and the PORSCHE script --- probably SPEEDSTER too! Going with an already produced tested design keeps us out of court with the lawyers! VW seems to have more lawyers than Bill Gates! Maybe something in German about "A copy being the sincerest form of flattery"?
TC, I hope you didn't think I was upset. I was wondering, if we hunt David down and take it from him, you could use it in May as long as I can have it in June, then I'll let you use it again in July. David it is used right? If you could you polish it up before TC and I get there it would be appreciated! Seriously David, do you remember who took care of the order last time or what they may have gone for?

Pat
Yes, we need to know what the badges originaly selling for before a bidding process can begin. . . . and what year that they were produced so that we can adjust for today's market replacement cost and/or value.

Of course, as we learned through this year's Barrett/Jackson Auction, when bidding is involved, there's that old "fool and his money" caveat that comes into play pretty early on.
