I'm in need of a speedo for a IM. Mine is a Brazilian replica. Anybody have something? Even an old VW one as I could install the working guts into my case. Thanks, Terry

I probably have a 914 one - does your faceplate have space for the trip odo numbers? Look on Samba or ebay for 914 one - they read same as original VW one - VW didn't offer the separate odo. Think TC said it was a simple swap.
I've got an extra Porsche speedo (black face, black bezel) that has the cable and knob to reset the trip odometer. I'll have to look at it tomorrow but I think it's the 150mph speedo.
Just send yours to Palo Alto Speedometer and have them replace the innards with VDO parts. Around $200.
My speedo is calibrated in KM, and I'd be much happier were it in MPH, but available 90mph max speedos seems inappropriate in the dash pod of a spiffy speedster...so I totally lost my head and grabbed a VDO off theSamba, calibrated in MPH... maxed out at 130MPH!! Even though it'll clock 50 more MPH than I'll ever use, I thought it would look very cool...And it certainly does 'look' cool...but it's a disappointing hacked up abused piece of crap!!... I'd be embarrassed sending this off to Palo Alto for refurbishing.
So, does anyone remember an intensive slide show clinic of the repair and refurbishing of speedos from A to Z??...I should have bookmarked it but I didn't.

You did Rich...but I lost it and had to substitute a penciled one that didn't quite blend in with my cockpit decor!...As a matter of fact it looked like crap.
I'll print and use this one as a quarter scale duplcate until my veeery coool 130mph speedo is refurbished and installed...or until it's junked and I settle for a 90mph swap.
BTW, the Samba seller is on my 'rot in hell' list...or should it be 'roast in hell'??
I have a 914 or 911 speedo, not sure but both types have odo windows like mine They are driven by the transmission cable as opposed to the front wheel as in VW. There must be a difference in the input speed to the speedo?
Despite fact that 914 Speedo is trans driven - even with an angled drive gear - it works perfectly with the VW wheel driven cable. Most 914 are 120 MPH but the later ones are 150 MPH. Not sure about other Porsche models - think some have used yellow marked 924 gauges.
