Good luck

My thoughts as well. When taking surf trips down to Mexico, I can only imagine what the locals thought as I slaughtered their language asking for directions.

@calif best of luck in your Speedster search. Keep your request posted on here, I think that eventually someone will have a lead for you.

CALIF is an exporter/importer for Switzerland. They have very specific requirements for getting our cars into his country. He has been on here before and made some good deals with our members or others who visit here. If all he stated was he wanted Vintage Speedsters built Speedsters built before 2010 and left it at that he'd get all sorts of offers for every builder of Speedster imaginable. He has to be this direct.

CAVEAT: I exchanged info. with him several months ago and discovered he's ONLY looking to "low-ball" the price he'll pay.

He is a middle man, wholesaler, dealer they only buy at wholesale that is their business model they do not want to pay retail.  If you want your car to be sold at retail which most of us want they are not your buyer... Just saying.

So much for SOC being a site dedicated for the enthusiast.   I've loved that about the site. Troy, Theron and others have been great.

I don't think it negates the site as being a NON enthusiast site, what it says is simply that some members on this site are enthusiast and some are merchants and some are curb sellers all cloaked as members.  The guys that are on this list a lot are true enthusiast, and some of those are vendors who give of their time to the hobby.  On the other hand some may be more narcissistic in their involvement on the list.

So it is not an either or, but both

There are very strict regulations in Europe for importing replica cars, and that is why the poster needs to be specific in dates, makes, etc.

It's good that he does provide such a degree of detail, therefore preventing wasted effort and time on his and others' part.

hi bob, exactly. we do have in switzerland very strict regulations and thats why we have to be clear what we are looking for!

we are dealers. we worked with kirk (vintage speedsters) from 1996 until 2010 together...if we buy a car from US, we have to pay extras like shipping, taxes, customs tc..and rebuilding the car for homoloagtion! so if you dont like our price, you dont need to sell it to us! thank you

Curious of how anyone can provide it was built before April 2010? Title will not show build date nor is there anything on the cars to indicate that...anyone know??

hi, titl doesnt say when speedster was built, it shows make, model...but if a title shows VW 1966 and "2dr conv" and the title was issued before 2010 ...means, it was already rebuilt as a speedster before 2010...and not a VW bug (sedan) anymore! insurance cards sometimes helps too...
