Wanted...Dash or Body Aluminum Trim Piece

Does anybody out there have a spare piece of the aluminum trim that goes on the dash or the sides of the regular body Speedsters? I need a 28" piece and a 6" piece for the dash of the Yellow Cab. I would also need the connectors to mount it.

i have some aluminum trim that i used from a beetle. i bought two body molding kits for a 60's something beetle and made my own side moldings.

you can have the stuff i didn't use (quite a bit) for shipping.

this is not the plastic extruded stuff. real aluminum molding that is/was tricky to cap nicely. i used 3M double-sided thin foam tape to adhere it.

I have 1/2 dozen clips for the dash trim if you need them.

I will be needing to put the trim pieces on soon. Was it cheaper using the VW stuff vs getting the trim from Vintage Speedster?

You might also find some wheel well trim at Autozone or Advance Auto. It's about 3/8"-1/2" wide, comes either chrome or gold tone and has an adhesive backing. Cut it, press it on and you're done. I'll see if I have a manufacturer and model # on the box I have left.

Mango. Thanks for the generous offer. I never even thought to look at my local VW place for this stuff until you mentioned that that is where you got yours. Sure enough, they had it. It's for a later model VW and the kit comes with 7 pieces for $28. So now I will be the one with some extra pieces.

i'd recommend practicing doing the cutting / end forming several times before you attempt on your full length piece. it took me about 4 tries to get it smooth. you'll know what i am talking about once you start.

also - it has some sort of chromish-polished coating. i tried to polish it, but it took off the finish and about 1/2 hour later of polishing/sanding i was back where i started from.
