Carey You just provided some insight as I have your latches on Rafa's Outlaw header bow that want to pop open when in the closed position.....

Our top latches are an exact copy of the D/Roadster original latch.  In fact, they are resold as restoration latches by several of the catalogs/websites. Anyway, they are simple over centering latches and a change in header bow angle will prevent them from over-centering far enough (they sit “on the cusp” so a hard jolt or road vibration could be enough to pop them “over the edge” and open). If you can’t change the header bow angle on Rafa’s top then you can achieve similar results by spacing out the latch base on the header bow with shims.

By the way, one of the things I added to the standard builds several years ago was a safety catch for the top latches.  It is a simple leather strap fixed to the header bow with a snap on one end and it stretches across the handle of the latch and snaps to the header bow.  This does 2 things: 1) it holds the handle in place firmly when the top is up and prevents accidental release and 2) when the top is down you can also secure the s traps across the latches and it keeps them from rattling.

Your shim was the fix ...thanks!     Would you post a pic of the leather latch straps on the bow?
