I've had good luck with Maguire's NXT generation tech wax and with using the same company's quick detailer for in between quick shine fixes. This product does wax on / wax off fairly easily and is fairly reasonably priced. I perform the wax job about twice a year, which seems to be plenty for a car that is garage-kept. There are plenty of other good products out there, but this is the best wax I have used to date.

Have any of you guys tried Turtle wax ICE????? It's a new synthetic wax that's clear, and really easy to buff off, almost just wipes off. And the BEST part about this wax, it leaves NO white residue anywhere, cracks, rubber, black plastic, basically you just wax everything. It actually lasts perty good, i wax my daily driver in less than 20mins after a wash, compare that to a paste type wax on, buff off with arms of jelly for 2+ hours. Let's just say i gave all my mothers wax to my mom, she needs the workout!!!!. They also make a detail spray for the "inbetween" applications, and i might add that i'm still on my first bottle, that has waxed about 10 times, i have 3/4 left!!!! I HIGHLY reccommend it, less time waxing, more time DRIVING!!!!

That clear stuff has been around for years. 20 years ago I was using a product that for intents and purposes did the same job as the Eagle Nano stuff.

I used the Eagle stuff last year early in the season. My car is usually garaged and rarely out...I only put about 350 miles on last year. I never had to wax again till fall and just used the Calif brush with the wax stuff in the red brush to take the dust off. Looked great every time...

But there's something about using paste wax that builds an emotional bond with a car. I don't know what it is but I like to wax the car the old fashioned way when time permits. Then I like Mothers. I use the car wash and the 3 part Mothers system then. It takes the better part of day, and a few beers to say the least, to go this route. And I have to put up with a lot of nagging from the other half about why I'm spending so much time waxing the car when I should be painting the fence, mowing the lawn, etc, etc....

Way back in the 60s I used a product called Liquid Shine. An early form of silicone polish. I think todays version is called Liquid Gold. I splashed it all over a new truck. Shined like a baby's bum! Then I contracted for a guy to put some 3M tape graphics on the truck. It took him over half a day just to get the silicone off so the tape would stick! He was a bit fried to say the least.

If you're driving a low annual mileage, I think a pure silicone polish, with a weekly detail, works nearly as well as wax. As he said, wax just protects the shine.
