After seeing some pictures and reading some posts it seems to me a lot of you use 3M blue tape, a painters masking tape, to seal your tops ,etc.
If you want something that really does the trick, is waterproof, strong, pliable, vinyl cloth backed and will not come off at speed or when wet try using 'gaffers' tape. Like duct tape it is available in colors with the standard being a matte black. It is available from 1/4'' up to 4'' widths with the standard being 2". It is easily removed and leaves hardly any residue if at all after removal even after sitting in the hot sun unlike regular duct tape or even painters tape. And it can be applied to damp surfaces, not wet but damp.
I've used this tape for a long time on my Cobra's top to seal it from the elements after being turned on to it by a friend. We drove for nearly 5hrs across Wyoming/Neb in a veritable downpour on our way to a big Cobra event in London, OH and after sealing up the top header, lower windshield rubber(Cobra windshields have a lower rubber gasket at the bottom of the frame and are not adhered to the body like a Speedsters is and tend to leak water) and side curtains at the windshield to curtain joint we got very little moisture intruding into the interior. Believe me this stuff works! and works better than anything else.
You can find it at ACE(at least in one of our ACE stores here)and at most Home Depots and Lowes stores. The best quality is about $16 for a 2x60yd roll...from experience the best quality is preferable rather than trying to save a few bucks. JVCC Gaff and Gaffer Power are two name brands I've used.
Did not know if this has ever been mentioned before...
