I awoke this AM to an 8" accumulation of snow and still falling.....Temp 28 f. ....By lunch we have picked up another inch, but it has stopped falling for now.....Forecast is for more this evening with the residuals hanging around for the next three or four days...... Traffic in metro Atlanta SUCKS..... Sections of Interstate were closed this AM, but have been reopened.... Its become a body shops dream come true and an insurance adjusters worst nightmare..... Fortunately, I don't have to commute in this mess.... Looks as though Gordon and Lane may see some of this also..... Hope not...

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.....

Been a mixed bag here in Beaufort. About 32F when the tide's out, rising to about 36 when it comes in. Nasty cold rain (reminds me of Ireland in Winter) which has been steady. Marsh grass was ice-coated until the tide came in. Ice is not sticking or building up on the streets - a VERY good thing, since the town/county has absolutely NO way of dealing with ice or snow.

Supposed to be warmer tonight and tomorrow, but it's pretty damn cold out in the shop right now - good day to sit by the fire and read a book.
We're good in DC so far, but they say it'll start to snow overnight and not stop until Thursday morning sometime.
I would rather it snow, if it's going to be as cold as it has been. It's been below freezing here for a couple weeks. At least with snow, I'll have some work to do from time to time -- in my line of work, business usually picks up.
Our forecast for last weekend was clear and we got CRUSHED by lake effect snow, setting the single day record for Indiana. The shop was spared, getting about 8-10" but just north of us (10-15 miles) they got 36". 25 of those came in 2 HOURS!!! The wife and I were out in it... You haven't seen snow fall until you've seen it fall at a FOOT an hour! It was insane.
As for temps, it was -5 last night, and 6 this afternoon. I think we may see double digits this week, but not above freezing.
"Atlanta to remain around or below freezing until Saturday, after tonight's sleet, snow and ice deposits." According to the weather man. ....Where is Al Gore's "Global Warming"???

Interstates closed again and again and again.....Surface streets are a joke.....Your Ga. state taxes are at work some where else.....

I believe it was 1993 when we had the last serious shut down....History repeats itself....

Gordon, Lane, it appears that you might catch part of this....Sorry.
Apparently, those of us here in the "Tropic Zone" have been spared any icing or freezing. Hell! The Gulf Stream is only 60 miles East of us, so we send it all up to Lane's neighborhood!

37F at 8pm, and tomorrow looks like mid-40's

We dodged another one! Yah-Hoo!

Interestingly, inside humidifiers are almost unheard of down here - I suppose that since it is almost always humid here in the "Tropics" people think they don't need one. We've got three table-top units running constantly in sub-40-degree weather to keep my screwed-up sinuses happy, pumping 5-6 gallons of water per day into the house and we're just able to keep it at 40% relative humidity - on the low end of my comfort scale, but we're no longer getting zapped by static!
OK, you people...I'm "trapped" and can't get down my mountain trail of a driveway! Asheville AVL set a record for snowfall and planes ain't flyin,. Ice underneath all the fluffy white stuff. Where's the dog sled when you need it?

Missed my pre-op orientation at Pardee Hospital Monday. They'll just have go ahead anyway on 17 January if I can get down! Be a problem walkin' to Hendersonville. I'm getting a new knee on the left side while Merlot is is under going a face lift! Pressed it too hard agin' the left side trying to stay stable in the curves! Oops, it could have been that mechanical clutch with the cable thingy. Maybe I'd should put in a hydraulic while Carey has her. Better on the knee????? Damned mountain roads 8<)

Hope my wife lives through this one!
Jim,
This is my second go around. The right one is Titanium already. We still have ICE on the driveway. I might get down Friday, but a North wind will freeze the thing up again. I'll have my laptop and a WIFI 'hot spot" at the hospital I'll be able to communicate. What to see pictures of the replacement procedure????
Im sorry to here about you knee Aaron. I could tell you where having trouble in October, My right should is acting up bad now Im afraid i have the same problem you had in your shoulder.

If I can get some free time approved from work. I want to go see the doctor in Chapel Hill. He did a fine fix on Moms busted up shoulder, when she fell.

I had to go in early a 6 am both days of the storm and stay untill 8 pm.. Mandatory! Mandatory my butt.. Im sick of that place. If I do have to have surgery Im going job hunting while Im on the mend and out on medical leave.
Good for you Alan. My concern? that with my eyes and my age that is not a simple thing I would prefer to be near home or working in home .

What's the deal on this posting ad's on ebay for companys. Is it a rip off or a real deal? That would be a perfect job for me if it's not a scam..

Im on call this weekend. After working all that overtime this week because of the snow and many of the hands did not come to work they made us stay 14 hr one day and 12 the next.

Im sick of this crummy job... I have missed dental appointments and my eye exzam because of the work scheldule.
Finally saw the driveway concrete peek through the snow and ice yesterday, so we decided to go out for lunch to shed the cabin fever.......Upon exiting the burger joint, I stepped on a sheet of black ice and did a literal 180, landing on the very top of my head.....Stars, funny colors, instant headache.....Just to be safe, went to see the doc, who said I had a mild concussion and to reduce my activities for the next 3-4 days.....FAT CHANCE with the build going on.....
Wow Leon, Like Lane said, At least take it slow and easy if you do work.. I had a slip or two this week but no falls . I hope your ok. be mindful that can lead to Parkinsons.

Im still wanting a 550 fastback coupe. I DO WANT TO BUILD THAT CAR SOMEHOW!! Silver paint and blue insides and gullwing doors. I will call it a 550-GS. unlike the others 5 speed. Im still tinkering the doorseam changes to make nice seam lines with the rear roof. but I see now. that It will work nice.
