I recently aquired a 1955 Speedster replicar and I have some questions about it. I love the car and I don't know much about it's specs. It has a vid# that indicates a '65 VW pan . The engine...who knows? It looks like all the other cars that are being built. It has
duel Webers ,but I am not sure how to tell what model ,size etc. All I can see on the carb is Weber. Is there an easy way to tell if it's 40 or 44mm ? Measure where to where. Thanks ,Al

Thanks, guys. My carbs are single barrel down draft. I will measure across the throat ,(inside the barrel) with my calipers and see if I can figure it out. Maybe I can get someone to hold my feet so I can see the flange. I'm sure I will have other questions as I get farther into my quest to find out who the hell built this car, Al
Alan, Before you try circus-trick acrobatics to try and see what's under the carbs, look at the pictures in the link Larry sent you (above).
If you have single barrel carbs, then there is no sense it trying to determine if they are 40's or 44's because for sure they are neither. Notice in the pictures that the 40's and 44's are 2-barrel carbs, not single barrel carbs.

Cheers,
Mark
Alan, there are several "other" carb setups. One of them is Dellorto. The Dellorto product line looks similar in configurations as shown on the Weber link Larry provided in his post above for you.
