I recently bought a speedster with a type 2 1600 cc engine with two 1 bbl. weber carbs. The carbs need to be rebuilt and I can't find rebuild kits to do it. The carbs only id marks are the W emblem and the word BRASILIA. The serial # tag has the # and the words Lado Esquerdo on it. Any information on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan

Those are DFV 228 Weber carburetors. CB Performance used to carry those a long time ago. Parts can be gotten from Brazil but hey, do not worry. I just rebuilt a set and they turned out great. I made my own gaskets (very simple) and chem-dipped the rest of the parts. I reassembled them, and all is good. You should not have any problems. The carburetors are a very basic design and use a piston type accelerator pump. If the piston pump seals are okay and the shafts are still tight, then you are in business! They should work up to 1.8L for a basically "stocker" engine.
