I've just finished rebuilding the Weber 32/36DFAV that was on my Speedster. Exhause measurements had shown that above 1200-1400 rpm, the engine ran well and had a good mixture. However, the engine wouldn't idle below 1100 rpm because the mixture became to lean.

I'm sure the jets are clean now, but before I reinstall the carb, is there any way to determine the size of the existing idle jets in case they turn out to be to small and I need to try the next larger size?

Thanks Alan. If I can be of any help with your Autos Classicos, just holler. I'll look for some old pictures that I took for Eric in Texas. They show the door latch installation and reinforcement that I cobbled up. It was different from the Fiberfab directions. I put a reinforcement plate inside the dood instead of on the outside.

Another problem was that the stainless steel windshield frame didn't fit the curvature of the windshield. Trying to reshape it didn't work out, so I bought a frame from Vintage. It fit perfectly.
By the way, the windshield didn't have any DOT marking, so I had to buy a new windshield to satisfy NJMV.
I honestly wouldn't trust whatever is stamped on the side of an idle jet.

Why?

Because it's so easy to drill them out and you don't know if someone has already messed with them!

If you have access to small drills, just use them as a hole gauge to find out what the hole diameter is. Even better is a set of torch tip reamers (they're graduated and marked with sizes). Once you know the hole diameter you can go from there to get to where you should be, either buying newer, bigger jets or just reaming out what you have a little at a time until it runs right.
