I forgot to take some decent "before" photos but my new VS seats are a 100% improvement on the beetle seats--however they make the rest of my interior look worse by comparison. Especially after seeing the flawless cars parked outside Vintage I really have my work cut out for me.

So here's my install list for this weekend:

Kill switch
Empi Shifter
Horns (should be fun to track down the wiring)
Foglights (just going to stick some behind the horn grilles)
Third brake light (under the hibachi)
Pedal covers

Trying to order a steering wheel right now, does anyone know a good vendor for Lecarra?

Anyway, what is everyone else working on?

Wow. You guys are doing real work. I pledged to stop tweaking mine a couple of weeks prior to Carlisle just so I wouldn't break anything. This weekend is gonna be just wax and shine the outside, cleanup the inside and treat the leather. Then it'll be ready to go.

However, I do have a list of upcoming fixes:
1. Replace two balljoints with tears in the rubber boots.
2. Find a way to lengthen my e-brake cables so it doesn't engage 1" off the tunnel.
3. Install my Lempert steering wheel when Mike gets through making it.
4. Replace the rubber brake hoses with braded steel.
5. Investigate a different exhaust for next year's ToDo budget. The one I have now drags everytime I enter or exit my driveway.
6. Look into another shifter like a Berg or CSP. Also on the "next year's" list. I think I've pretty much blown this year's already.
Hey Lane...
"2. Find a way to lengthen my e-brake cables so it doesn't engage 1" off the tunnel."
I've been screwin' around with my E brake for months (I've shortened the cables twice). I finally got the thing to hold the car on a grade and release to drive. However, my final working action sounds like your decription. Heck, I think I'll leave it that way as long as it does the job.
Just finished cleaning the garage. Wow, there is REALLY a lot of room in there now! Two loads to the storage shed, a pickup load sized pile of clothes and towels to the laundry room and a full packed-to-the-top-of-the-canopy load to the dump. They actually charged me for TWO pickup loads, $22 instead of the usual $13 because of how much stuff I had crammed into the back.

Ryan and I put up a couple of posters in the garage, Porsche's at Watkins Glen, James Dean (fueling the spyder) and Speed Racer!!!

You know what's bad? I could not get the Christmas tree into the truck. Steve is going to flat lay an egg when he pulls into the driveway and the tree is still in front of the house...

instead of listing what I was going to do... I will tell you what I did today.
1st. I bent and installed all of the diamond plate engine seals (they look sweet)
2nd. I added the final touches to the exhaust. Sweeter, I got chrome shields to set it off.
3rd. I plumbed and added the breather box. I just don't know where to finish out. I don't want to drill and tap into the of the carb air cleaners tops.

Here are some shots

Replaced the Talbot mirrors with the swoopy, speedster jobs (what are they called?). Not a big job but didn't have a whole lot of time.

Has anyone ever done some vacumm fiberglassing? I got a used shroud for the 911 engine...its black but I want to put a layer of carbon cloth over it for looks. I tried earlier on another shroud but just laying it on did not produce adequate results. Couldn't get the cloth to lay flat down into some depressions.

I'm think of trying to make a vacumm bag and trying that. I don't need a lot of pressure to do this...just something to hold things in place while the cloth cures.

Any thoughts on this? Just looking for something I could fab up for a one time use with crap hanging around the house and garage.

Never thought about that Nolan! Dense sometimes. I'll be off to Walmart tonight to pick one up.

Had a very disturbing weekend...returned home Friday after work and our neighbour was at the door crying. She had come home and found her son, our boys best friend, had committed suicide. I went with her back to the house but it was too late...there was nothing we could do. My wife phoned the authorities from our house while I waited with our neighbour and her son. One of the most disturbing things I've ever witnessed.

Normally I'd be out kite skiing as he weather was perfect. Instead hung around the house and eventually decided to swap out the red interior of my IM for a black leather interior (adapting the early 912 stuff I had done earlier). One door is done so far..no turning back. I'll probably regret it but it kept me occupied.
Stephen...son's okay I guess. He lives 5,000 kms away so we've only spoke to him on the phone. Expect to see him on Sat as we were supposed to fly there tomorrow for my high school reunion/150 year anniversary. We'll now leave Friday after the service...

That reunion should be interesting as I doubt I'll recognize anyone. Last summer I was in a bank back cashing T-checks home while on holidays. I used to work for this bank for 7 years and thought I might recognize someone but didn't.

When I left a woman came running out yelling "Hey you!". I didn;t know what I'd done wrong and she came up to me and said "Were you just going to leave without saying Hi?"

I had to admit that she somehow seemed familiar but I just couldn't place her. She said "Well, you used to be married to me...I'm Dian"

I was speechless! Not only had this woman grown about 4 inches in height (no heels...that's the first thing I checked!) but man had she aged. This was an old woman and I was married to a young kid...for over 3 years, common law for 1, dated for 3. Speechless and stupid.

If I couldn't recognize her I wonder if I'll recognize anyone. Be interesting....

Back to the red interior...there won't be much left Stephen. It was glued in place pretty damn good. Just the seats and I'm going to keep them for the time being.

Wow. I bet there are some guys here who would love to forget their ex that well. That reminds me of the time I went to pick my mom up from the airport after not seeing her for about 2 years, she walked right past me!

I didn't think you could get any taller after around 17 or so, just how young was she when you wed?

Stephan - Showpiece? What do you think this is - a Porsche Club? LOL!!

Dude, we're about driving and having fun, not judging and dis'ing on each other's car! I'll be sure to give you a heads-up for the next cruise.

Brian - Sorry to hear about your weekend experience - goes to show you how fragile the 'human condition' really is. On a lighter note, your banking experience gave me an idea for another thread (see Anything Goes).

Peace - Out!
