So I texted Teresa around 5pm on whether Cory had arrived and in a few seconds (honest) my cell rings and it's the Hoopty from Djibouti hisself!

He sounded tired, so I assume it was a long-ish flight (hey....it was on a Ryan Aire Charter flight - anything on Ryanaire is an adventure), but at least he's home safe with his wife. They have a lot of catching up to do, plus, he's going to be going through debriefing and updating their replacements for the next month or so and then things will, most likely, settle down.

Sounded good, and very glad to be back.

Look for some Hoopty and Mrs. Hoopty posts in the near future.

Cory (and Lane at work, too, for that matter) has not been able to access this site for a few months, hence, no posts from the "Great and Lesser Djiboutis", but he could access the Speedsteshop and posted there from Spain (where both cell phones and land lines were ineffective and email was blocked, too) that his flight was delayed due to mechanical problems and could we notify Teresa?? A few of us did, me included, and so I'm glad the Speedstershop was able to be a communications conduit for a GI on his way home! (who woulda thunk??)

Anyway, the newlyweds are back together again - Gee.....this is getting to sound like a Nicholas Sparks novel, isn't it?

Pretty cool Holidays coming up, I'm sure!

(gulp!)

We've come up for air!!

Cory got into Norfolk on Saturday (the 14th), and had to spend a few days there. We hit the road for HOME on Thursday, and celebrated our one year anniversary yesterday.

We're just getting our feet underneath ourselves now ... It's been a whirl-wind!

I'm sure Cory will post something soon!

For now, he says "Awww! Thanks for all the messages and posts!"
Heeeeey, Everybody!
I haven't been intentionally neglecting you guys -- it just worked out that way. Teresa came to Norfolk to meet me last week, and we wound up there a few days longer than I thought we should have (but not longer than Teresa thought we would be; she's smarter than me).
Good news is that might have been my last deployment. There's scuttlebutt that another is possible if I want it, but it looks like I'm a protected species for the next year at least -- and to go anywhere again, especially as an E-8, I'd have to volunteer for it. I won't rule it out, but I'm not gunning for deployment number eight, either.
Thanks for keeping in touch with Teresa and I over the last year, guys. It's been terrific. For those who used to have my phone number, it hasn't changed. it's the same old 443 number. We're looking into an e-mail address now for gmail and Mac.com; it'll probably wind up being the lindisfarne793 address with a new suffix. Not 100 percent sure what that'll be yet.
For now, we're happy to be together again.
Pictures when we have time.
