I know this car.  It was at Henry's 2014 Treffen.  I spoke to the owner, and he admitted he hardly ever drove it.  He made the effort to tell me he had 'a number of other cars' to drive.  It is quite a beauty, and has a great sound with that 911 engine.

The selling price may look like a lot of money (which it is), but that car is worth it.  It was immaculate, and looks even better 'in the flesh' as they say.

I recognize it because the owner always kept a shift knob pattern thingy on the transmission tunnel for when he took it to a garage, and you can see that in some of the photos.  I thought it was his car when I first looked at it, based on the 911 engine and the colour combination.

That would be a cheap (?) way to get into a 911 based Intermeccanica, with low miles, and well cared for.

If I were in the market for one, that would be it.

I've had BMW M cars and modern Porsches.  When you first get them its exciting.  But after a while it just turns into a commuter.  I drive a Fiat 500 to work now.  I just don't care.  Can't imagine having a Boxster as my play toy.  Honestly its just not that much fun.  Boxsters are everywhere.  How unique and special can a Boxster make you feel?  My 356 replica puts a smile on my face and just makes me feel good.  But this IM6 would make me feel good and would make the hair on the back of my neck stand up.  I'm really not criticizing anyone who keeps a Boxster in his garage as his play toy.  My neighbor drives a Mini to work and has a Boxster as his play toy.  I'm just not that guy.

I totally agree, probably one of my favourite cars has been my 87 535i which I drove for 10 years I loved it and my original 356A coupe(59)   So my wife one days says to me why don't you get yourself a sports car seeing your a car nut to play with or get your old original 356 back.

So I mosey along to the P dealer sit in them, look at them and it was just Blah  I mean they were nice but just not for me.  So I looked at the originals and I remembered my original and it's issues and it's costs.  Not knowing if I would still like the experience I paused, then I remembered IM and after 2 visits to Vancouver I bought a used one because I wanted to drive it and not bow down to one in the garage no matter how shining of spell binding the shape was

I have to say, nothing excites me in the car business right now except this 356 IM the rest is basically transportation and yes some comfort.

At $100k, why not buy a brand new Porsche?  Or a slightly used one?

I guess I too live under the mantra, "keep it simple". There are a lot of cars out there for $100k that actually gain value and still provide happiness.

A brand new 100k+ Porsche will drive very nice and lose value at a steady predictable pace.  It also looks like all the other new 100k+ Porsches.  This IM will drive beautifully, looks unique and will appreciate in value over time.

Theron is right the depreciation curve for a new car is what it is ...

Buying a used Replica where the depreciation has happened allows you to drive it for many years and sell it based on condition and replacement value of building a new one.

At this point the replica has just bumped up as the US$ vs Can $ moved by 30% and all parts have suddenly bumped up as well so a new bottom price has been established so to speak.  If you sold your car in the last 2 years ... Simply said, you could have sold it for more today ...gee

To compare..... Here is a fine example of the unobtanium value being given to P parts.

Stan has been quiet; must be busy at work or building his new house.   I know he has a comment on this car or maybe he bought it already

Crazy -busy time. I looked long and hard at this listing. It's almost perfect, aside from Webers instead of PMOs.

Alas, we closed on another property last week, and I'm in the "finish-hemorrhage" portion of the building process. My fun-bucket is bone dry, or I'd be all over this.
