So I took my Speedy to a car show (invited) and we raised money with the door fees from spectators - and we even had a 50/50 drawing. (the drawing went well as we raised $1200 to drop off at the Childrens Hospital from it alone!).

The place was full of 'Merican Iron (and the speedy went basically unnoticed), but I am sure it brought in its fair share of paying people to see it :)

It had fun and it felt good.

People can come up with really interesting charities to donate to when you raise money from car shows. The local, Beaufort, club raises money all year long. We only run four local car shows, but they're all getting bigger each year. The net proceeds go towards "Christmas Meals on Classic Wheels". We purchase really nice Christmas meals form a local restaurant and deliver them in our classic cars to people in need by working with the local Dept. of Social Services. Last year we helped 157 people in 82 families - Kathy and I drove a Dodge, "Lil Red Truck". Each year the club can afford to help a few more.

Yesterday we had out biggest show here, ever - 84 cars - in support of the local Soft Shell Crab Festival, and in October we'll be showing at the Oktoberfest in the same location. I'll try to post a few pictures in another thread later today.
Man that's awesome. I luv doing this with my car collection as to me its a great way to let people know that "car guys" are okay (even me!).

Little Red Express! Oh yes. Back in 1979 my Family was two minutes away from buying one new. Dual Smoke Stacks and all. But the "new" front wheel drive Omni 024 sports model beckoned us away from the black valve cover 360 cubic inch plant of the Express... Groan...
I know what'cha mean.

One of the guys from the Southeast Regional Car Council put up some photos of our show yesterday here:

LOTS of people loved the father and son "Rat Rod" pickups, as well as the 1960 travel trailer with matching tow pickup.
