For all ammenities see the hotel site

When making reservations ask for SOC group rate   $159.00  (all rooms are suites)

Hotel has a poolside BBQ every evening for $6.00 typical hamburger/hotdog/steak sand.

Since we will not have Warren/Karen's hospitality for Friday evening, the BBQ may be a good substitute,

but there are other restaurant options within walking distance.....

Dinner for Saturday night banguet at Pappy MacGregor's, they have a brick patio at the front of the restaurant.  It's got soft covering for the elements and a wind break similar to beach restaurants at the front.  There are tall french doors leading inside the restaurant and they have several bars inside along with a back patio area with a fire pit. The patio we will be using also has several heaters in case it starts to cool down so it should stay nice and toasty if necessary.  They have plenty of room for 60 people or more and a small bar they can set-up for us on the patio. oh yea, almost forgot, the girls at Pappy's wear short kilts and tight tops.....

This ends up saving us the rental of an actual room, As long as we are all together, do we really need our own room anyway....

We will have a raffle as usual, so any items you wish to contribute will be appreciated, and of course the money

collected will also become a raffle item at the end...

Scott C. has used his influence to get us a tour of Diablo Nuclear power plant.

When was the last time you were at a nuclear power plant? The road to the plant is a very scenic drive (i'm told)

and will serve as a morning cruise (we will gather around 10:00)

While at the plant we will do a photo op with the cars....

Being nuclear, we will be required to show some forms of ID to get on the plant property, you will be informed

as to what identification will be required at a later date.

Saturday afternoon can be used for another tour, perhaps wine country or headed in any number of directions, if you live in the area and want to suggest something, please speak up, this gathering is for all of us, but some just

like being on their own....

Please start posting whether you will be attending, we need the count for the power plant tour, and please

start making your reservations for the hotel also...(It's the only way I can get an accurate count)...

There are plenty of members who do not frequent this site, so I ask that you please get the word out to

those members, so we can make this event a success....

A special thanks to Scott C  for the power plant tour and the dinner arrangements......

Vinny,

IF I had the stamina to endure a 6 thousand mile round trip in a speedster...and IF I thought that speedster could purr through the desolate wastelands between the Hudson River to Obispo and back again I'd be happily trailing all the way with Crosby in the lead... He's done it before and he knows the way through the trackless deserts.

But I will purchase some 'token' raffle tickets (through Jim Ignacio) so vicariously my spirit will be there!!!...My 'spirit', by the way, drinks either a decent scotch of Capt. Black's watered down spice rum.

Karen and I will attend. Karen has booked the house for her Canasta friends, so the BBQ at the hotel sounds good. I am hoping someone else volunteers to put a drive together, as I have done it the past few years, but if not I will show you some cool roads in the north back country. There are wineries all over the north county, so we could do a fun drive until we get to a winery and then the rest would be a scenic drive, maybe to another winery. I think the Gimmic Rally last year was OK, but not everyone participated. Let me know your thoughts and by all means, I won't be offended if someone else steps up.

Hey Rusty;

For this event we hope you will join our caravan to San Luis Obispo. For the past 6 years, a bunch of us would meet in Malibu Beach and head up PCH to 101 for the remainder of the trip. SOCers from the OC area (usually 4-5 cars) first hook up in Seal Beach then to Malibu.

In the past, there's typically been 15-20 Speedsters in this caravan and its quite a sight to see on the road. Keep an eye on the 'Events' thread.

Chris, how big is your baby?

I put 4-point belts in my Spyder and used them with my son and daughter(separately of course!). I have a Vintage and used the rear upper frame member to wrap the belts around, as it is at the top of the cockpit. I used the 4-point belts until their heads were even with the top of the car. Then at that point, they were over the 8 years and 80 pound rule in New York State.

Are there any folks from the midwest, East or south or points along the way that are  considering making the San Louis Obispo event?  This is a trip of a lifetime trip.  My son in his 911 and I in my Speedster are close to commiting and it would be great if we could get a caravan together and do this !

Russ can fix anything aircooled or otherwise and I carry enough parts and tools to damned near build a Speedster so this is some insurance for those of you "on the fence"

If there is some interest we can start a separate thread for planning this trek.

OK, so I guess I do have more to say.....

My wife keeps asking me about how she can help with this event, and to be honest,

I'm about done with all of you....So it has been really hard for me to get excited about

any of this.....A lot of the SoCal regulars no longer post, & without them I honestly don't

expect a good turnout for this event....

The Hotel has been picked, but I have seen better

turnout for a daily cruise to the Rudder room judging from the current response.....

Friday night will just be a gathering at the hotel, they have a Happy hour etc....

We will be cruising to the Power Plant on Saturday, thanks to Scott Kramer. I will

announce what information is required for entry to the plant and the time & place

to meet Saturday morning soon.

Dinner is arranged & we will be using the standard restaurant menu with separate checks.

The owner has asked if we would place some of the tubs near the entrance, so people can view them.....Once again Scott has put this together & it sounds like a good time will be had by all that attend....

If you would like to continue with the raffle idea, then speak up, we can do this at the restaurant, since we will all be gathered in the same area...

I would appeciate it if someone stepped up to the plate, contact me, to plan a short cruise

for Saturday afternoon for those who need more seat time....

Sunday is open at this point, but we usually meet for breakfast at the minimum....But a short

cruise can be put together for those who do not have to head home early.....

I  need to start hearing from some of you here on this thread......

I'm coming.

I haven't booked a room yet because it's f*cking March, for Christ' sake!

Vince, quit being a dickhead and show a little more enthusiasm. I feel like I'm reading Oscar the grouch here...

I'm sure the turnout will be decent in spite of your bubbling personality.

Maybe Jim should do the promoting?

Looking forward to seeing you in June, Devil Man.

Vince, two things: First, you may now call me "master". Yes, I've finally finished school and now I have time to harass you on the forum. Second, these guys don't know how to plan in advance. They're going to call you at the last minute and bitch because the hotel is sold out and they didn't book their room yet, then you're going to feel bad for them and offer to let them stay in your room with you and Terri. Before you know it you'll be hosting a slumber party for 30. Alright, it might not be that bad but seriously, at this time last year only two people had paid for their group meals (I didn't keep track of the hotel rooms).

Miss you, you cranky old man.

Jen

I didn't realize my disappointment with this site was so obvious.....

I feel like I'm back in school in some stupid auto shop class.

I do understand the excitement you guys derive out of all this

talk about shocks/cams/carbs/tires/rims etc, but for me it is

about the people and the friendships more than the mechanics....

I will try to maintain my cool, but I am still saddened by the

lack of response from the West Coasters here on the SOC,

not just for this years event, but in general.

You goons in the East are still in character as always, but out here

in Pair-of-dice, we cruise to a different beat, or at least we used to,

and I miss that....

Jen, congrats on your "Master" status, you & Blake are exactly what I am talking

about, I miss you guys....I will be planning another get together at the house over the summer....
