Just wanted to let everyone know we are headed in the right direction.  Up here in the SLO area it's just now getting warm and sunny enough that I broke out the car a couple weeks ago and went for a cruise.

It's sure to be a great weekend no matter who shows up.  The hotel is excellent and the room rates for the quality of room is great.  The contact person wasn't too worried about shutting off our reserve by date, but I wouldn't wait to far past mid April if you can swing it.

As far as the banquet, I set us up at a pretty casual restaurant up the street (short walk) with our own patio area.  The restaurant manager I know, is very excited about hosting us and really wants to make a good impression.  He's bending over backwards to make the dinner whatever we desire.  Offering to allow us to individually order from the menu with separate checks to having set choices.  We just need to decide.  He's even willing to bring in a BBQ if we want and grill for us.

I haven't heard back on the Diablo plant tour, but I'll continue to try and catch up with my contact to firm everything up.  Any other suggestions for drives are welcome.  I have lots of ideas and realize that not everyone wants to hit the wineries, although they are the most scenic drives.  I'm thinking maybe putting together a couple of options with leaders for each drive.  Lemme know what you think and who's willing to lead.

For those looking for a relaxing weekend in SLO, this is it!  Everything should go smooth and simple and at a nice easy SLO pace!!  I'm looking forward to it and all the businesses are definitely very welcoming to the group, looking forward to seeing the cars at their establishments!!

Oh, did I forget, Vince you can count Marlene and I in!!!!

Keep the faith and see you in SLO.....

Jack, old joke from the movie "Airplane."  "Surely you jest!""No, I don't and don't call me Shirley."  Doesn't work in print, I guess :-).  Another one from that movie that never works is "That will be $2.45 altogether."  When you repeat back "That will be $2.45" nobody ever gets it.

I'm a wealth of bad jokes, like "Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana."

or "How do you get down off of an elephant?" Answer: "You don't get down off of an elephant, you get down off of a duck."

Vince, it will all be good. You plan it, they will come. I'm with you, I don't post here much anymore because I am Speedster-less, but I wouldn't miss seeing all you knuckleheads again. Sounds like Scott has put together some good plans. Again, if no one wants to put together a run, I will do it. It will probably be an auto-cross, so be sure to bring your helmet. Just kidding...

Congrats Master Jen!!!!!! Now, you can start drinking again.

Hey Vinny, seems like you picked a bad week to quit glue-sniffing (re: Airplane)!LOL . BTW - your lip reading skills are well documented. Bwaaaaaaa...

Scott - thanks for putting in the effort to organize some cruise options. I'm not much of a 'wine' guy, so a tour of the nuclear plant would be interesting....or whatever route we can put together. I can lead one of the cruises if needed! Looking forward to hanging out with my knucklehead SOC friends (all 11 of them ) at SLO!

Tom B - does your dog bite?

Congrats to you Jenn for successfully completing your Master's degree! Now Blake can re-enter the danger-zone previously known as your study room!

Peace-Out!

Vince, quit being a dickhead and show a little more enthusiasm. I feel like I'm reading Oscar the grouch here...

I'm sure the turnout will be decent in spite of your bubbling personality.

Maybe Jim should do the promoting?

Looking forward to seeing you in June, Devil Man.

Terry, I plan to attend, but will more than likely not stay in the lodging that was mentioned originally. It's been several years since our paths crossed, and I look forward to tipping a few with you and the others, and placing names with faces. It's hard to believe that it's less than 2 1/2 months away. It would be a pleasant surprise if some of the East Coast people just happened to show up....in their cars...but I won't hold my breath. A 3,000 mile trek is quite daunting.

Neither, it's the format.

haha

Frankly, I hope the SC "irregulars" show up. As for me, I'm a northern California

irregular who definitely plans to display my ugly face and lovely car (lovely wife, too). But....since I plan to stay with friends in Cambria, and since they need to know which days they can expect me and my wife to stay overnight, can someone please post a definite schedule for all three days? I have read about the power plant, something about a wine tour, a possible "cruise," which can be anything from a stroll down main street to an actual stream of cars. Will there be an actual car show in a park  such as we used to have in Paso Robles, or in a parking lot a la Morro Bay?

I don't want to plan for all three days, then sit around watching Vince down some cold margaritas. So....what's the event schedule?    Muchas Gracias...

Gerd, why aren't you working on someone's taxes. Stay off this site until tax season is over, Carrol needs you to make some money.

Thanks for the congrats guys. You might you want to send Blake some condolences though. While he's happy to have his wife back, he did have to give up his honorary bachelor status.

I just saw that this is the 10th year you guys have been doing this central coast weekend thing and then I realized it's been six years since I made Teri cry. I could have swore I just met you guys. Really, how the hell have I put up with some you for that long?

Oh Goofy one....We learned years ago that having the whole weekend planned out

isn't what the group is all about.....some of us prefer to just see the area on our own,

or small groups, since most of us are not from the area, and don't get there much..

Cambria, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, and some other small towns are all in that area,

so enjoy the weekend at your leasure....

Friday afternoon/evening will be a gathering at the hotel, which I am told has a pretty

cool happy hour, and gives everyone a chance to mingle and/or get re-aquainted.....

Saturday morning we gather at a pre-determined location (still to be determined)

and we then leave for the cruise to the Power Plant. I am told the route to the plant

is a good one. A few people have mentioned that they are not really all that interested

in that location but you can't make everyone happy, and I figure they just don't want

to get "Neuclear" wasted....when was the last time you visited a neuclear power plant...

If this cruise falls apart for any reason, we will have another as a back-up...

after that cruise, we will have an afternoon cruise thru some wineries, for those who are

interested (you wino's know who you are)

We gather again in the evening at the restaurant for dinner...

Sunday is open as usual, but something always materializes for those who are staying

longer than others....

The West Coast meet is a a bit different than the East Coast since ours is not associated

with another major event, and instead of sitting around shooting the bull all day we tend to

drive more and take in local sites...Not that ours is better, just different.

Those East coasters are a great bunch, as I discovered last year. (please don't quote me on this)

they actually travel further to get to Carlisle...

Thanks, Vince. I will be at SLO, but don't know if I can make it for each day, but I'll definitely be there....at least to see if Gerd really looks like his avatar and to hook up with my friend Terry Nuckels. Haven't seen him forever. Terry and I had planned some sort of similar get-together up here in the sticks of northern California, but my mind kind of wandered away from it after having imagined how much work it is. As a matter of fact, I think I owe you (Vince) a very large cold Margarita or other drink of your choice to help bring you out of any funk you may be in. If I had to plan such an event, I know that I would need subsequent therapy.

Also, I am itching to meet some of the other members whose posts have held my attention.....starting with Jim.

B.S.

My funk (as you state) started when this site went to it's new format, and drove away half of the west coast contingent....I have very little interest in the mechanics of my speedster, and even less for those who do not understand my humor, so in affect, I am no longer a daily viewer of the SOC......

I am now retired & have better things to do with my time anyway, cruising the Hot Rod, Golf, Gardening, Scotch, Cigars just to name a few......

I am looking forward to SLO in June, but not with the same enthusiasm (sp) I used to have in past years.....

Keep your chin up, Vince old boy! Sometimes a few of us do other runs as opposed to the caravan type rides. One year we ripped around up in the hills of PA to one of the locals houses. Now that was a ride! Just sayin'!

Last year it was a pleasure to have you, Terri, and Troy among us, as well as Jim and Ginny. The Ignacios are regulars at Carlisle at this point, looking forward to seeing them again. Cory and I will share some Scotch and cigars in your honor....
