Hey all,

I am a probable future Speedster or 550 Owner that would like to participate in the activities next weekend.  I am fortunate to have a weekend place in Templeton, just up the road from SLO.  I was wondering if I can participate without the appropriate vehicle?

If this is possible, I would love to go on a ride along to the Power Plant if anyone is going solo and would be interested in an enthusiastic co-pilot with knowledge of the area and lots of questions about your car!

Let me know if this is cool with your group since I have been a silent lurker for a while here.

As far as the power plant tour, I think I'm gonna scrap that idea.  They were requiring quite a bit of personal information on a form to be faxed a week in advance.  I didn't anticipate that anyone would be willing to supply me with their SSN and Date of Birth so I cancelled for this year.

I set up dinner up the street at Pappy MacGregors which is an Irish Pub and Restaurant.  The location is within a block of the hotel for those who wish to walk or stagger home.  The restaurant worked with me and allowed us to have separate checks.  Past experience has been good even with large groups ordering this way, so we should be fine.

For Saturdays events, I've consulted with Vince and we've decided to start the drive at 10:00 am.  I will have some stopping points set up with a lunch spot where we can all take pictures if we want.  From there, I have several different routes planned so there will be something for everyone.

I will set up the restaurant to start accepting us around 6 or so for those who want to hit the bar or start ordering appetizers.  Dinner should be sometime after 7 PM allowing everyone to relax and have plenty of time to get ready.

I set this weekend up to have something for everyone.  It's not set up to make everyone follow some strict schedule or agenda, although we will have some times as guidelines.

When everyone talks about this event, I hope they can say the only thing they liked better than the event was the people they got to hang out with.

In other words, everyone relax and get ready to have a great time!!

Vince:  Please try to get me an approximate headcount if you have it, so I can give the lunch locale an approx number so they can be prepared for us... I can guesstimate the dinner crowd at around 50-60 people based on the hotel count.

Anyone who has an interest in being a drive leader, let me know.  I might need a few depending on what everyone decides at lunch.  I plan on throwing out the different ideas before we start driving so everyone can make their decision at lunch as to what direction they want to head.  We can split up or stay together after lunch.  Again, I have something for everyone!

Hey Scott

I hope to have my car back together by Saturday, so if you need help with a drive, let me know.

Hi,

My husband and I will be heading up to SLO in the a.m. from Ventura.  We plan to be up to SLO by 10 or 11 a.m. and would love to know the tentative schedule/area you all will be in to join the crew.  We are new this year and want to get an idea where to meet up with the group(s) and if there are more than one lead drivers and drives/groups or one main group.  Will there be drives to the surrounding wineries or coastal areas?  Please post some kind of schedule if possible for the drive at 10am meet up area and 11-12 route....at least we hope to find you all by the lunch hour so please post where you will be meeting for the lunch.  Can't wait!

Natalia and Ryan

I realize that this is a little early, but for the sake of those making this trip for the first time, here is the SoCal routine of the past 6 years;

Those traveling from SoCal can rendezvous with this caravan in the following manner;

3) 08:30 - SOCers from Orange County & San Diego county can rendezvous at the CVS on Seal Beach Blvd (just north of the 405 fwy). Departing CVS parking lot @ 09:00 for Malibu Beach.

4) 10:00 - Rendezvous at Topanga Ranch Motel. Meet & greet, depart Topanga Ranch Motel @ 10:30

5) Caravan north on PCH along coastline to Los Posas exit (approx 40 miles). Caravan north on Los Posas to junction with 101 Fwy. Gather in parking lot behind McDonalds. Lunch & top off fuel.

6) 12:00 - Depart lunch & fuel location, caravan north on 101 Fwy to Santa Barbara. May stop in Ventura for additional SOCers.

7) Continue caravan along coastline to Santa Maria. Exit Batteravia, easy off/on for fuel and pit stop (Mobile & Chevron).

U SHOULD MEET THE GROUP IN CAMARILLO AT 11:30 AM

Natalia - probably easiest for you guys is to meet the caravan group in Camarillo. Los Posas/Hwy 101. We'll be on the north side of the freeway at the McDonalds in the rear parking lot.

We should be at that location around 11:30. We usually have a lunch break and top off fuel tanks at that location. Hope to see you there!

Oops, just read your post about being Saturday! See you guys in SLO!

AH YES PEOPLE ALWAYS GET EXCITED TO SEE VINCE, JIMMY AND I

To Jim I - I sent you an e-mail of the first routes leading to lunch.  More will follow when we pare down the second half ideas.  We can see what everyone decides at lunch and split up the groups if needed.  I might grab you for a tour guide then. Thx!!

To Troy - Bring your 100 mile tank and you should be fine

To Jim V - I sent you an e-mail.  You're definitely welcome to join the fray or whatever it digresses to.  Check your e-mail and this site for specific times so you can join in the fun.  Pomar Junction will be the first stop so that might be a good place to start since it's down the street from you.

To Natalia - Looking forward to having you guys join us.  With me planning the events, food and drinks this should be the best one yet!!  Oh, did I forget to mention I'm humble?! LOL  If you make it by 10 we should still be in SLO, if not, I would suggest checking the itinerary on the site for better times.  Contrary to what Jen may say, this first half is on a "fairly" tight schedule up to lunch and Pozo doesn't get cell phone range.  It's like Deliverance out there if you've never been! Kidding!!

To GERD - I WAS CERTAIN YOU WEREN'T COMING.  DID VINCE MAKE ROOM IN THE TRUNK FOR YOU??

To Warren - Thanks for the offer.  I knew I could count on you and Guapo to help with leading the groups.  Of course, I'd prefer to see us all stay together as one big group, but we'll see how the day and temps shape up.

To Everyone - This is shaping up to be a good one.  Again, for those who plan on staying longer I can set up a drive for you as well.  For wine drinkers, I have a few contacts on where to go.  If anyone is going to be here on Thursday night, be sure to catch the SLO Trolley from the hotel.  It takes you straight downtown where our world famous Farmers Market is being held.

If anyone needs anything here in SLO or you need ideas on things to do or where to go outside the group activities, I will be happy to make any suggestions or assist in any way I can.

The last time I spoke to the hotel, they were still willing to provide the same room rate even though we are past the blocked out window.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.  Drive safe!!

GERD THAT'S A BUMMER,,,I LOOKED FORWARD TO ANOTHER FIRESIDE CHAT AND SINGING "CRAZY B....." AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS!

Dale, we have the wine covered since I too like to "juice"!  In fact, our first stop Saturday is at a cool winery with trains on tracks and crossings as well as old tractors.  Neat place with potential photo opps for the group.  Not to mention a chance for the slower starters to catch up.

Any Which Way----We Can't.  We tried working all the angles etc. but no can do. Please EVERYONE have a good weekend and fun. Already looking forward to the pictures and Video.

O.K. norcal, we carried all of you last year, make us proud.

Seriously NOT happy about missing this year (obviously to us) it has nothing to do with the car. enjoy. Bob and his #1 wife, Jessica

For those arriving Saturday after 10:00, when we are planning to start the first cruise, there will be an Itinarary at the lobby desk along with maps so you can meet up with us at other locations, later in the day....

Troy, months ago I came up with some designs that I planned on putting on some shirts, but I got Pi$$ed off because of the lack of response to the event and this site in general and abandoned the idea.....

NOTHING WORSE THAN A CROOKED COP RUNNING THE SHOW

Dale, I choose to ignore GERD!

Did I tell you about the guy who walked into a bar after meeting with his accountant? He walks in and says out loud,"all accountants are a$$4073$!" Some guy at the end of the bar says, "Hey! I heard that and I resent it!!"  The first guy says, "Oh, are you an accountant?" To which the first guy replies, "No! I'm an a$$4073!"

I'm just sayin'!!
Any feedback regarding lunch?

The Pozo Saloon has offered to do a BBQ feed for us that would include tri-tip, chicken, beans, salad, bread and iced tea for $15/person.  The food is good and the portions are ample.

Anyone opposed to doing that? Keep in mind, it may be our only option to accommodate the size of our group, but I'm trying to negotiate any possible variations.  Keep in mind, if you're a vegan I'm sure someone will offer to each your meat.

WORKS FOR ME SINCE U R BUYING

Anybody looking for a co-pilot on the ride out to Pozo?  I could drive down my Corvette, but I am much more interested in experiencing the ride of one of these cars, and would rather drive my truck to haul some stuff to Templeton.  I would be happy to be the official photographer for anyone who would have me as the passenger.

Anyone interested?
