Robert M posted:I'll take an XL t-shirt. I'll bring the money with me to SLO.
I'll put you down for the shirt and you'll owe me when I see you. Leave it to you to create your own program! Geez!!!
FINAL NOTICE:
I'm trying to make sure we have everyone for dinner, but I have 3 sets who are either on the hotel reservation list or reached out earlier, but did not pay.
To everyone who has paid, "Thank You!" We have a total of 65 for dinner.
I'm going to feel bad for the other 6 who are going to miss dinner, but chasing folks down for money is my least favorite thing to do. Especially when I don't have contact info for them.
Last chance to pay for Nash,Parret and Rion. If you know them please contact them and have them make payment arrangements with me before Wednesday (Caterer extended my deadline).
Thanks for any help you guys can provide. I really don't want anyone to miss out!
PS I still need volunteers to help out handing out goody bags and serving dinner. I've had one person volunteer so far, but it'll take more than that to make this work. Thanks!
Scott
Dude, you know you can count on me and Kevin to help out. Well...at least me, Kevin is a talker.
As far as tracking people down for money, just have @Robert M take care of it. He's very persuasive.
OK, I may be a little lame here but Scott do we have anything here with the Saturday events and wineries?
Yup! There's going to be a drive and some wineries involved.
You know what they say Dave...On a need to know basis! LOL
Well it’s Tuesday 6-5-2018 and that means 3 more sleeps until the madness begins.
Dee had fun in Tahoe last year for the “All Hail Tour d’Hoe” and she is still looking forward to SLO this year.....cool!
See you all soon
PEOPLE OF EARTH, and SOC Knuckleheads heading to West Coast SLO Cruise!!

One of these days, Dr Clock, you need to get your a$$ out here!
What did he threaten you with scissors? You must have been racing without a helmet. Where is the track?
well, it took a motorcycle cop to hunt you down, you must've been flyin'!
Be safe out there fellas. I'll see you all at the next one.
I can't make it
Troy, Sally, that's beautiful, some lucky duck will cherish it!
Is there an official start time for happy hour this afternoon ?
We may not be there, but we've already started...

I had 2 in honour of this weekend...
What a great weekend and so special to have Kirk and Mary Duncan present. Virtually everyone in the room was there because of the 3,300 Speedsters they built as the owners of Vintage Speedsters.
Thank you Troy. What an excellent meet thanks to all those that helped. Dang HOT coming home thru Calabasis. Missed the #1 cut off.
I made the trip down to SLO in my yellow Model A to take a look at all the fine speedsters and spyders. Got a chance to visit with a few folks and talk cars. Rick filled me in on his cool spyder, Troy was great and took time to answer my questions and Tom confirmed his seat was comfortable even for a big guy. I'm looking forward to next year and hopefully I'll be driving down in my new speedster. Oh and Terry, thanks for the comments on my hot rod. The ride home to San Jose was great!
Dave! It was great to meet you and welcome to the group. That is one badass hot rod! Looking forward to seeing you next year.
Thanks Terry. Had a fun time checking out everything. I even had time to cruse to Solvang Saturday morning. A little Pool time at the hotel then walked down to Franks for a hot dog just in time to see you guys cruse back into town. What a great sight ! You must have taken a longer route ..... haha
Dave, I'm not sure why you didn't cruise right along with us, you were more than welcome.
Very nice to meet you.
What’s a WCC SLO event without a little excitement at the end?!?!
My wifey and I left the hotel with a mission to stop at Brass Bear Brewery that we found last year heading home. It’s a small little brewery in Santa Barbara. Great beer. Great food.
As we were driving down, I noticed my wifey slow and then I see Bill and Natalie (outlaw Speedster) on the side of the road. We pulled over to help. @GERD and his wifey were there and Blake and his wifey. Bill had a right rear flat tire
I’m not sure who’s tire repair kick it was, but it was a compressor that pushed sealant and air at the same time to seal the hole and put air in the tire. It wasn’t working. When we looked at Bills set-up, he has wide-5 rims... well... my Eleanor has the same and I have a Vintage 190 4.5” rim with a spare tire on it in my frunk. BOOM!
We pulled out my spare tire, jack (which we ended up needing a GERDs Volvo one... which I will now carry a few 2x4’s for additional height), tools, and went to work! Several minutes later, Bill and Natalie were on their way home.
I haven’t used the spare, so I followed them for several miles - had them pull to the left so I can see the rim and tire rotate - all was good and they headed home
I should note, my tool kick is based on Doc Clocks checklist
Got word from Bill and they got home safe.
My Eleanor got me home safe and I think I got a little better mpg without the spare
Regardless of how much time passes when we physically get to shake hands and hug, this little SOC madness is family. Family takes care of family. We should never forget that! I even heard Greg honk his horn has he drove by AND text AND call to make sure we were good to go.
Monika, Natalie, and I had a blast and look forward to the years to come. Cheers!
I don’t have any pics of the tire change, but here is my Eleanor. A thread always needs pics!!

Hey Troy, This was my first visit and I didn't want the yellow thing I was driving to be in the way. I will tag long in the future or at least meet you guys at the lunch stop. SLO offers some great sights in and around the area. I chose to visit Solvang this trip. Great chatting with you and the others. Like you said, just go buy one ........ lol
We just got home from the West Coast Cruise after a short tour of the Central Coast. This was such a great trip for the both of us and we truly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people!
We are already looking forward to next year; we just hope we can all get together again in the fall...this was too much fun to do just once a year!
@Dave Schaub Hey Dave, I saw your hot rod parked in the back lot and thought 'What a bass-a$$ ride'.
Having read your comments, we wish you would have joined us for the cruise Saturday morning. Although the event is generally thought of as a Speedster (et al) event, it has really become a 'run-what-you-bring' cruise.
Several SOCers no longer have their Speedsters (for one reason or another) but still come to the event driving their 'other' car because the camaraderie is just too much fun to miss!
Hope to see you at future SOC events!

Hey Jim, I will join the Madness by next year. I have been lurking here for a few years and love the info, experiences, trouble shooting and comment from fellow knuckleheads. Count on me for next year in SLO and you'll see me here now and then. I was going to honk at you getting gas this morning as I left town, but found out my horn no longer works.......... hot rods !! :-)
Had a chance to connect with Bill early this morning and pick up my spare. Great guy to just chat with. Him and his wife were kind enough to give Monika and I a bottle of wine for helping them out with my spare tire on the way home from SLO. It my be called “the madness” but we all have big hearts
Back in the day......The VW bus owners had loose network of folks around the country call AIRS. Air-cool Interstate Rescue System. It was a list of folks with varying degrees of help available to bus owners. From cold beer and a garage with tools to expert mechanical help. Also some allowed you to camp in their driveways.
Similar group of people that will help each other that have the Madness.

Yeah, like $100+ bottle you have there.

Love the spare story. And that bottle looks delicious! Cab Franc, mmmmmmmmm!
Take another look at that bottle - it's a Cab Sauvignon ...NOT Cab Franc. There are BIG differences between them...in all respects: cost; varietal; taste; color; etc.; etc.; etc. It scores about 92 pts.
