Haven't decided yet. Have sister in Los Osos and may go visit her for a couple of days before the event. But I might go down Friday morning and visit my sister on the way back. How's that for decisive? I do like the idea of safety in numbers though.
Made my reservation gang. I think I will be driving the Cayenne however. The speedster is running well so we shall see what my confidence level is at that point in time. I am leaving for Kona on Tuesday for my daughters wedding.
Boston is playing at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Sunday June 11th. Tommy DeCarlo is pretty damn good on vocals. They are also playing in Bakersfield the next night June 12th which is Brad Delp's birthday. I am certain Tommy DeCarlo will bring his "A" game for that.
Tommy DeCarlo was a Home Depot employee that sang karaoke to Boston tunes as a hobby. He posted a Boston tribute song on his My Space page after lead singer Brad Delp passed. A family member of Tom Scholz saw the tribute song and told Tom about it. Scholz was so impressed by DeCarlo and how much he sounded like Brad Delp that he sent him a plain ticket to meet with the band - that was in 2008. DeCarlo is now up to speed. Jimbo, love that video.. I think it's the first time I've actually seen it... I was SOOO pissed that I missed last year... OK... so NO running on treadmills before the trip... A brief update....
This weekend I met up with the infamous Terry Nuckels and his lovely wife Andie along with Robert "Crazyman" McEwen and his patient and lovely wife Nancy (Kudos to you Nancy!)
We drove some routes and hit some locations to try to prep for this years event. Things are looking up and we have some solid direction. Now just trying to contact the venues for confirmation that they can host us and/ or feed us. I'm also in contact with our dinner caterer and the hotel to try and firm up dinner plans.
What we need to do is start getting a head count for everyone that's planning to attend. Please contact me by email at hammerinatgmaildotcom with the dates your attending, whether or not you're staying at the Quality Suites with us and if you'll be eating lunch and/or dinner on Saturday with us.
If you know someone who's coming, but doesn't get on the site regularly (I know I just described myself), please let them know to contact me and suggest they "follow" this thread as this will be the official WCC thread.
If you haven't booked your hotel room, I'd suggest doing so soon as they've sold out in the past. If possible, I'll try to increase the number of rooms held this week if we're almost sold out of our block, but I can't guarantee anything.

It looks like I will have to miss this year again. My mother just so happened arrived that weekend and I just started a new job, so I can't just take off whenever, I want to. Hopefully next year.

As of now, I have 45 folks booked into the Quality Suites (10 from the Murtaugh clan alone). We also have a couple that aren't staying there, but are joining us for the Sat festivities. I still haven't heard from a few of our regulars so, if you know someone who wants to come, please contact them and get the word out. I'm going to have to compile some lunch and dinner numbers soon. Also, our current dinner venue only holds 50 people, so if we increase by a few more, I'm going to have to seek another venue and VERY soon!

I've received pretty good feedback from most of you and, some of the usual suspects, I'm assuming are participating in lunch and dinner since you're booked at the hotel. Hey Ryan, Mitch and Mike aren't coming to SLO but they will be at Tour d'Hoe... I can't speak for Noel but I'm leaving Friday morning around 8 or so. Seth is looking for someone to caravan with. He's in Berkeley and planning to leave mid-afternoon.
Actually, just looking at the route, I might take a much longer route through the sierra foothills until Fresno and then dip down to SLO. It turns a straighter 300mi 5hr trip on the 5 into a windy/hilly 350mi 7hr trip.
Definitely planning on a 1000mi weekend. Looking forward to it.
I am definitely coming. My vehicle of choice is undecided but will probably be my Cayenne. My confidence in the Speedster is growing daily. My preferred route is the one Terry is taking. I cannot make Terry's 7 am as I am two hours away. I am looking for a place to crash the night before.
Ryan, if you want a sweet road rally kinda drive, check out route 25, Airline Highway: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wik...ornia_State_Route_25 You can catch it off of Pacheco Pass and hammer all the way down to King City. Likely to see a few exotics along the way. I remember watching Dave Mitchell outrun a 930 Turbo in his IM6 on that road...
