Jack, you come west & the scotch is on me.....
So is it typical to run with the top up on long distance trips like this would be?
i'm in Phoenix, had my VS for a year and have never yet had the top up. The SLO trip in June means crossing the desert and that's a brain baker with the top down.
GW - if we're driving through the California central valley or desert from SoCal to wherever, we put the top up without the side-curtains (helps prevent sun-stroke and wind-burn). If we're going extended distances and plan to purchase items to bring home (souvenirs, case of wine, etc), we tow our VS.
Best of both worlds, my wife can bring as much luggage as she wants, we travel in comfort, and have the VS to tool around when we get to our destination. We've been all over the Western States, Nevada, Utah & Colorado with our VS.

Deal Vince. Thankee.
I already have the hat and various shirts. My old leather skin sheds the Sunblock but I would use it on a long trip.
Appreciate the advice, Jim. What's the purpose of the blue tape around
the windshield (an obvious rookie question)?
Now that is a slick Guamaniac setup for a road trip.
Blue tape is your friend. If there is any chance of rain, the tape is useful to seal up likely leak areas. Yes, these cars do tend to leak a bit.

I sold my 4th and last MGB about 20 years ago and thought I was done with water (and oil leaks). I guess not but that's part of the character -says somebody from Phoenix where it never rains.

Hey GW - I learned that 'blue tape' trick from Gordon Nichols when I attended my first Carlisle event. Like Lane said, it's great for keeping water from seeping into the cabin when you're caught in a rainstorm in you Speedster.
I use it to attach some rubber mat to protect my Speedster windshield & driving lights from any stones or debris kicked up by the tow vehicle. Comes off easily (as opposed to masking tape or duct tape).
Hi Jim,
I am going, but I haven't booked, I guess I should do it pretty soon.
