Ok, Ok!
Let me change my vote.
1) San Jose
2) Gilroy
3) Carmel

Theron, perhaps we should all come to your house, then you won't need to drive anywhere...
I love giving you crap Vince. I can't wait to do it in person again.

Seeing as it's also out of alignment, thinking this is a good idea. Do they also balance the wheels (if that's the problem?)
Thanks, I'll name-drop if ya don't mind.
What's the name of the shop? Is it on this map?
*EDIT*
Nevermind, found it
Pat works on all the hot rods in the south bay...everyone knows him...
he can actually do it all, but prefers to be under the car...
VINCE IS THIS THE GUY THAT WORKED ON YOUR ENGINE BEFORE U HAD TO REPLACE IT WITH THE NEW ONE. I KNOW U SAID U DIDNT LIKE CHRISTIAN BUT PLEASE.
Gerddddd, you are a sad pathetic slug, Bye Bye......
Vince, not to drift to far off subject (Gerd is pathetic), I want to remind people that the Embassy Suites in SLO has free happy hour and free breakfast.
Most of you derelicts will find this quite a money saver!
And GERDdddd will be able to play elevator tag all day.
Terry, perhaps the approach should be to try and get more cars from the North to show up...
The south gets more cars for a monthly run with almost no notice (less than a week), than
the north would get with a years notice....We simply have more cars here, but that's not the point anyway....We drive hundreds of miles to see you guys, and almost nobody shows....
Kinda makes some of us wonder why we bother, other than the seat, which we obviously love...
Perhaps Theron can take a poll of members north of Central Cal and try talking them into coming.

Why is there even a vote? READ ABOVE POST!
FREE Happy mutha fookin HOUR!!!
Vince, if you want to have the event in your back yard, be my guest.
No matter how you want to look at it, you guys from SoCal travel a shorter distance than the NorCal people. Hell, SLO is 189 miles from LA and 232 from SF. I'll drive 348 miles to get to SLO.
I don't know what to say about the NorCal group and why they don't drive the distance. Maybe they're worried their cute little cars can't make it or they can't drive more than twenty miles because it's uncomfortable. Maybe they're just lazy. I don't know or care. Whatever the reason, I respect it.
I drive the piss out of Penny. Putting a couple hundred miles on the odometer between stops is no problem for me. I do the distance because i really enjoy seeing you guys. So, if my health is in check and Penny's running, i'll be there. But, if I can get you guys to come just a little farther north to SLO I'm just a bit happier.
I will say that Solvang is one of my least favorite places in California. It really gives me the creeps.
I'd rather go to Stockton...
Anywhere
That's where I'm at with the voting. haha
The shaking above 70mph is what bothered me the most, I'll have to get that sorted before I go on any sorta long road trips that's for sure (likely balancing).
And as far as Troy's comment about my ownership longevity.. I have owned countless custom/vintage/cool cars and only a couple have stuck around for more than 5 years. I go through em like women go through shoes...
We'll see if the Tub lives as long as the other favorites. So far, it's right up there in my top 5 classics owned so there is a good chance
I'm betting it will be gone in a year if you don't learn to enjoy driving it for more than an hour at a time, but maybe that will change.

Terry is cracking me up. There is a great Best Western right off the 99 in Stockton, but I don't think they have a free Happy Hour.
I have to agree with Terry, Solvang is kind of creepy!
TPN
I think you are missing the point, YOU are not the problem,
We have drivers from San Diego, & Orange county, so the distance isn't the issue either....
The fact that the SoCal bunch have come to Central Ca for the last 6 years should also tell you that we don't mind the seat time.
Some would rather not drive as far as we do, and they also count, and when they see the showing from the north, they can't help but wonder why we drive so far to meet with only a few....I also represent them, in 2013.....
I appreciate all the members who come, but I don't mind telling you that I was disappointed in the showing from the North this year more than ever. The members who live locally don't count in all this, some of them don't even need a hotel room, but even Eddie didn't show and he's a local...
Granted you can't make people come, they obviously don't care. Some of us care a lot
or we wouldn't have traveled all the way to Carlisle to see the East coast derelics....
I have been elected to do the deed for 2013 or I wouldn't be involved in this dialog. I am not trying to influence the results of any poll either, I'll drive all day to get to our destination.
Perhaps we need to plan different events to entice more members, but that didn't work when
Dusty tried it....
Wow, its looking like sooooo much fun to plan this thing! Maybe I should volunteer to do it again in 2014...yeah, right!
Seriously though, you guys are much nicer to the ladies. Vince, maybe you should start signing Terri's name at the bottom of your posts then these guys will do whatever they can to please you! On second thought...you might end up in some compromising positions.
Compromising positions? Vince?
In his dreams...
Hmmm, come to think of it, Solvang IS creepy. Would like to stay closer to coast during this summer-time gig.
On reconsideration, I'd rather go to SLO. More options for coastal cruises, lodging & nightlife and better weather without usual coastal overcast in Pismo / Morro Bay.
Vinny. let me know how I can help with the planning/preparations. I could pre-run a couple of routes for event cruises or whatever!
Peace-Out!
OK, Note: change Jimbo's vote from Solvang to SLO due to creepyness......
DONE.....
Jimbo, once a decision is made on location, we can talk about events....
Damn you Jen for making me feel bad.
Ok for real. I would love to explore SLO.
I've heard good things about some breweries in that area as well.
-=theron
1. I'm in for SLO
2. San Simeon
3. Narnia
Larry
1. SLO
2. SLO
3. SLO
OK- Im biased (went to school there). Solvang is creepy & sleepy (like Morro Bay) with basically not much to do at night aside from the casino.
At least in SLO we can drink downtown with Cramer and do burnouts in his cop car.
Plenty of sweet drives around there and lots to do. Solvang is great if you're a 70 year old woman going fudge tasting and trinket shopping.
SLO has restaurants, bars, college girls and... well... I think Vinny just made it final. SLO it is.
As far as the bitching and moaning about driving far distances, that's the reason we bought these cars. Hell 2 years ago we were practically floating back home but we made it and the memories are priceless.
1. Solvang - Everyone is right. Solvang is too crowded and dead.
2. SLO - Too far for me to drive.
3. San Simeon - Too cold. Also dead.
Anywhere! This is not a comment on voting. I really do enjoy the seat time and the opportunity to again see such an interesting assortment of SOC friends. So, Anywhere works for me. Narnia not so much.
I'm in for any of those spots. Good roads to drive near any of them, and as far as distance driving I'd love to do a run all the way to Mendocino over a week! I drove my IM from British Columbia to San Diego in a week on the coast the whole way. I'd do it again in a heartbeat......

But Will, "British Columbia to San Diego" would be a lot of miles you would end up regretting.
Teri & I are currently on a road trip to Monterey, we passed thru SLO today &
stopped at the Embasy Suites to check out the place for 2013, since the current
vote seems to be favoring that location....price wise it is a few more bucks than what
we paid in Pismo, but they needed to check what the total would be for a group rate.
They are all suites, so the rooms are bigger, the price would include full breakfast,
they have a full bar, restaurant, misc little kiosk coffee etc. banquet room, indoor pool & spa, it also is basically in a mall with plenty of shopping for the right seaters....& you gay boys....
SLO is within minutes of Morro Bay, Cambria, Cauyogas (sp), Pismo, & other locations, so there is plenty to do....weather today was windy & not nearly as warm as SoCal, but that can change at any time.....
between graduations, car clubs etc, it is important to book a weekend as soon as possible, no matter where we go....
If anyone else has a hotel in the SLO area that they would like to suggest, speak up,
the rest of you start thinking about SLO as the meeting place for next year, because
as I said earlier that is where the votes are headed...
Im still pissed about the showing from the North this year, & if I end up being the one planning 2014, I expect to see at least a decent showing from the North in 2013
or 2014 will be somewhere in Sandy Eggo...this is your last chance to get off your
dead asses....
Don't forget, the Embassy Suites also has Happy Hour every afternoon...BOOZE FOR FREE!
Vince, I don't care where it is as long as it's not that creepy Solvang!
If you decided San Diego it would give me an excuse to go see my grandkids.
I'll be there as long as I have Penny and I'm not dead or dying.
The voting is over & it appears that the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obisbo is the clear winner.....
Actually SLO is the winner, the Embassy Suites was a suggestion that after close scrutiny
by my wife, in person, passed inspection.....
All the details are being worked out by Teri (my wife) & the GM at the Suites & will be posted in the next week or so....
The main thing in question is the Banquet room. They have a stand alone, & several attached,
but after that cluster fock in Carlisle with the Banquet room & those loud Nigerians, we are looking
to use the stand alone room, which might conflict with the dates we want....
More to follow soon....
unfortunately we cant make this event
have tons of fun and lots of pics
Sounds like fun! Looking forward to it. Let me know if you need any help with this shindig.
First off, to Gerdddddd...bye bye
Jimbo, I will start a new thread once I have more info on the hotel, price/amenities etc...
I know the group does not want to many planned events, and this location has so many directions to cruise, Morro/Pismo/Cambria/Hurst Castle etc...my head is spinning......
Jimbo, come up with a cruise for Saturday, maybe Hurst Castle for those who have never been. Cambria's Moonstone Beach is another great location....
I will start a new thread shortly.....
Bye Bye Gerddddd
BYE BYE VINCENT
I'm sooooo glad we're not going to Solvang!
Do we have a weekend in mind?
NICE- SLO TOWN! Lots of sweet places to go. And for the lushes in our group- we will have plenty of bars too choose from.
SLO so it is. Now all we need is a date.
