The Embassy Suites has a lot of rules that we will be required to sign up for...

Most important is, if we sign up for 20 rooms, we will need to use them all or be billed for them anyway...also a deposit of 1K is required to hold the rooms up front.....

First weekend in June  all banquet rooms are currently taken and we may need to switch to another weekend...

The room rate will be 169.00 a night...there are many ammenities to this hotel, but I need to know if this rate is acceptable. Most locations are going to have similar rates in the area.

So speak up before I commit to the above....

 

(Solvang was a little cheaper, and they had free hookers & Gelotto)...

So, how do you work the deposit stuff? Perhaps we just pick a weekend and then individually call the hotel and register, independent of a group?

We don't have to register as a group, do we?

As far as the group dinner, maybe we'll need to do it outside the hotel?

I'm not trying to make more work for you, I'm suggesting that we do this by committee and take some of the load off you.

I'm willing to help if you want it.

Hookers in Solvang...really?

OK, so maybe I was exagerating about the hookers being free, but how much could they charge in Solvang...It's not Vegas after all....

 

Terry, basically when you want to get a group rate and book a banquet room, everyone wants cash up front....it's pretty normal...hence the charges, if we don't do this, everyone will be running amoke..Keeping the group together & having everything in one place solves all the issues....

Terry, The idea of letting everyone fend for themselves would make it easier on Teri & I but

don't make much sense in the big picture. We get a break on the rooms if we take a block

of rooms, which also guarantee's that we get a room. Besides we want to all be together

for the obvious bonding thing etc.....

Having the Banquet room in the hotel is convenient if nothing else....

 

What we really need more than anything is a somewhat solid commitment from the members

who plan on coming, & willing to pony up approx 170.00 for the room (per night) & approx 65.00 ea for dinner & use of banquet room....these figures will go up or down slightly depending on location....

 

Teri tried the Marriott courtyard in SLO, with similar numbers to the Embassy suites...

room rate was cheaper but more for the banquet room...

but after viewing pic's of the Marriott, the Embassy Suite's look much better....

 

If there is someone who lives in the area who is willing to spend some time looking at

other venues, it would be a great help, but don't be suprised if the rates are also similar

to the above.

The Embassy Suites (right next to the Madonna Inn) is very nice, & should be used as a

benchmark if someone is willing to go look....

 

I can think of at least 10 cars that typically come from the south, but besides the Knuckehead

& Theron, I haven't heard **** from anyone else from the North.....very dissappointing

that I dis the north & get no response.....

I need to hear from those who plan on attending, date is not firm but beginning of June

approx....head count would really help to make a commitment for rooms.....

If the price of the rooms/Dinner seems high, find us another with a reasonable price.....

We told them we wanted a block of 20 rooms which seems like a reasonable amount.....

If the usual suspects from the south show up, were looking at filling at least a dozen, but a few have sold their tubs, a few will have other things goin on, so who knows.....If I can get 12-15 positive replys, that would be enough to commit my credit card to hold the rooms...

 

So speak up folks.....

Just by the response so far, I have 8 rooms taken...See that wasn't so hard...

I am responsible for 80% of the 20 rooms....so I need 16 taken, I have half...

I'm sure that there are some who simply hate this new site but will join in,

check on some of these guys....Will, Mark, etc....

 

If the rates are an issue, you have at least 7 months to save your change,

pawn a kid, work the streets, etc.....

Just so everyone understands......Here is the plan so far

June 7-9, two nights Friday night & Saturday night

Embassy Suites, SLO........(all suites) check out the place...many ammenities

indoor pool/bar/coffee kiosk/mall shopping etc

175.00 for the room with Breakfast

62.00 ea.  Saturday night dinner (includes Banquet room)

(I will pay deposit of 1,000.00 up front for Banquet room)

 

East coast pays about 50.00 less for rooms, but that's Carlisle...not California 

FYI

I need to make a commitment by the 27th if I chose the Embassy Suites, which is the way I'm

leaning, basically because of the ammenities, room size & general appearance.....

the biggest drawback with the Suites is the indoor pool, I know how we like to hangout in the spa, I figure no cigar smoking & not sure about booze around the pool......But, that said, it is nicer than

any Marriott courtyard I have been to.....I asked if someone could cruise by the Marriott, but

apparently nobody is in that vacinity.....

The cost difference between the two, for room/banquet room/dinner was 15.00.....

I am reserving 15 rooms for sure, & possibly 20 if they will relax the 80% rule....

To get the Banquet room I had to change dates to the 7-9th of June 2013....

Just by the banter on this thread so far, I have 10 rooms reserved, so 15 should be easy,

20 may be a stretch, but don't wait to long to make your decision, or you may be staying

at the marriott, with us at the Suites....

 

Totals will be

$175.00 + tax for room (each night)

$62.00 ea Saturday Dinner (includes Banquet room/tax/tip, etc)

 

cost is actually lower than Solvang...

 

Mary, I agree, the Honey Jack is a good one.....

 

We sent a deposit of 1K for the weekend of June 7-9 to commit to 20 rooms, with

an 80% guarantee to Embassy Suites....so we are now committed....

Just with the response on this thread I have 12 rooms taken....

Have to work   (lame)

can't afford it    (bull $hit)

other commitment   (what could be more important)

cancor sore on a$$   (so don't sit down)
