Kudos and thanks to Alan and Ed for another great Speedster/ Carlisle event. Alice and I loved it and the many extras that were included this year that added so much---the free breakfasts, best parking yet, huge hospitality room, and one of the nicest Marriott rooms ever. Thursday's BBQ dinner and staying right at the hotel was smart too. I know that organizing this event was a ton of work but it was all handled with such poise from start to finish that you two made it look easy. Stan's surprise appearance was a nice plus---same for the three West Coast Amigos, and how about the Beck Super Coupe showing up?
My 80 year old bones took a hit on this, our eleventh Carlisle ---I don't remember such a sore bottom and back and the cramping legs on any previous trip but this one was a real challenge. Our attendance at eleven Carlisle events added up to over 27,000 miles on my Speedster, so I can honestly say that the miles on it are mostly highway miles! How we ever drove over 3,800 miles to the West Coast event in 2010 is way beyond me, but I have driven my last Carlisle and next year we will be flying to Harrisburg and renting a car. To me, the greatest enjoyment of these events comes from seeing some of the finest folks I have ever had the pleasure to meet and that won't change. What will change is the use of our Speedster as a conveyance to the local ice cream emporium and car shows around the state rather than any future "Iron Butt" treks. I never liked that nickname very much anyway.
