I have been looking for this kit for my entire adult life! It's pretty much what got me going on replicas, and it's what brought me to the Spyder Forum and subsequently, to this Forum as well.

I saw that kit in one of the magazines in the early 80's and fell in love with the misproportions and poor fit and thought that something much better could be made from it. I have been posting almost everywhere trying to find one, but I didn't know the manufacturer, only that it fit a stock VW pan.

I HONESTLY can't thank you enough. This is like a trip back in time and a possible dream fulfulled. I'll have to monitor the final hours plus price out trucking rates in the mean time.

If you have never seen one as well as a now out of business Spyder company that tried this "long" version..... in person a non shortened VW chassis is used thus the longer body,it looks way out of "kilter"

Build it and they will come... Looks like this would be a good candidate for some serious crash fun. Why not buy it, tie it up to a tree while you put a brick on the throttle and then cut the rope and watch it fly off a cliff. Any movie directors out there looking for some fun?

MAN, what I could do with that car! I priced everything out and getting to Massachusetts from down there is way too much. I guess that gas prices are pushing car transporting through the roof. That and probably the extra insurance. All I want is a guy with a trailer and a lot of spare time, you know . . .

If ANYONE EVER finds one of these kits again, north of PA, PLEASE email me and let me know. I just LOVE the poor malformed little thing. It's got so much charm!!

It was a tiny little leak. There's nothing that a little bit of Duct Tape couldn't resolve. I'm sure even the guys at NASA keeps a roll or two in the Shuttle tool pack!

I can't believe people have bid on it! The power of ebay continues to astound me. Lets do the math on what it is worth as parts:
windshiel + scripts + steering wheel + 3 good lug nuts <> $1525
Numbers don't lie.. I especially like how the dash was uncut to preserve those beautiful lines, I am glad he opted to build that, I believe to be solid ash (or plywood), center guage console. Oops, I'll have to add a bit of value for those "baldini special" tires he has on the back. Has anyone else noticed that there are no doors?

I always wondered what a turd in a box would go for on ebay.

I think the molds that made that car are now in the hands of another builder. Does anyone remember the red one-pice kit car over by the Cobra guys at the Knott's show. This is the same type of car. The one at the show did not have a wind shield on it. Now I know why.

If it was in a nice box, and was fresh and nicely shaped ....well, who knows?

Has anyone checked ebay and seen the NEW version of this car that's currently being offered. Check the price that it's going for. I guess that they're putting it back into production and this care mentioned here is an early version.
