What are the most recognizable differences between the major speedster manufacturers?

I admit to being an elder having a 1978 pan based IM. There was an older IM at Carlisle a couple of years back too with a lad from Mass. I think. His serial number was close to mine. Not that many around now though. My serial number is 223 of the 5 or 600 built in Cali.

Shame we can't get a true car registry going here.  Would be nice to capture serial numbers and build dates.  Not sure where that info went on old SOC site.

    I Will try to get you a photo tomorrow.I just switched to the Speedhut gauges and haven’t been able to dial in (program) the speedo.  But I think they look good, but not original..   Eventually if I like the Speedhut units, I will switch over all the other gauges to the same dial and color.  I liked their customized options. And, of course, the most foolproof tell - if the owner is wearing a real Rolex, the car is not a VS.

The most amazing car I have ever owned...but recently have had a half dozen squamous carcinomas and a few melanomas removed. I have never driven it with the top over my head and I never will....from my BUG-EYE in 1968 to MY IM6..50 years of "AIR IN MY HAIR".

My DOC/ONCOLOGIST says NO MORE.....I've been fighting an uphill with the thought of a new home for her but will soon have to find her a new home. My wife/kids spray me with 100 SPF and have read me the riot act.... no more convertible.

She will soon be finding a new home although I have yet to decide how and where. Hawaii is paradise, as is an IM6, but I must heed the warnings. Will talk to HENRY and see how it will best find someone who will take good care of her.....

TRUTH BE TOLD and FACTS are FACTS.......I found it on EBAY......and I have the EBAY emails from CATS EXOTICS to substantiate the exchange. Coincidence that PHIL, I, and a few others were interested and making offers.......

Facts are facts, but the list's comments on that car, certainly accelerated people to have a look at it and the discussion was clearly started by Phil.  Just saying.   

In any case your free to do as you will with it, it is your car after all.  

Hey Banzai sorry to hear about your skin trouble. That's scary as hell and sad and aggravating that you have to part with this beautiful beast after just a few years. But, hey, tooling around Hawaii for a few years in an IM6 means you've lived well. 

Good luck with the sale. Have you considered Bring A Trailer?

Sorry to hear of your issues, and you having to sell your IM6.  You enjoyed the car for a couple of years (well, except for all those young, bikini clad lovelies draped all over the car you used to complain about :-), and you had the Speedster experience that all of us here are fortunate enough to know.

You will have no difficulty selling this car, even with the freight back to the mainland. I don't know that I'd enlist Henry's help, as I doubt you'll need it. The car really will sell itself.

Regarding the squamous carcinomas, I had a good sized one cut off of my hand earlier this year. None of us are getting any younger.

BTW: I wear a Timex as well. Will there be a discount for me?

@Banzai Pipeline your health is much more important than anything else. You car is amazing and it should move quickly. 

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Banzai, and sorry to hear you've decided to let the car go. I agree with Stan (as I do a fair bit on here- hmmm....), I don't think you'll need to enlist Henry's help to sell that beast.

Appreciate all the good support, INDEED, and yes good health is bottom line. I am not at all concerned about being able to sell...I've seen the prices on BAT and other sites with "less exotic" cars going for ridiculous prices. I just want it to go to a home where the owner will look at it and SMILE BIG....

This car is truly a freakin engineering marvel of a machine...I just am amazed that Henry was able to get a full 911/930 suspension/brakes/flat SIX into this car ! I am not quite ready to let it go.....

If you want to keep it maybe you should try evening cruises  No more seriously.  A hardtop option with A/C might give you what you need to drive the car at least you would be out of the direct sunlight.

Kind suggestion....but I SLEEP at night and cruise during the day. Just love cruising in the SPEEDIE during the day when I can see what I'm doing...Have had it for 2 years and might have barely put 600 miles on it. 

My DAYS of "AIR IN THE HAIR" are numbered....but life is good and I at least had a fair shake of the PURR/GROWL/TORQUE of a 2.7RS flat six under my TUSH

So get a local sailmaker to make a bikini top for it.  Plenty of shade, but still a lot of airflow.
