There used to be a thread about what you did with your car on the weekend, but I thought I'd start another one instead of looking that one up.
I took mine out today. Drove it for an hour or so, then aimed it at the firehouse I volunteer at. It was a nice day, overcast but warm, so I opened up the back and cleaned both Dell'Ortos from top to bottom. Cleaned the mains, cleaned the idles, cleaned the covers, screens, screws ... the works.
I even cleaned the base plates and trumpets.
Amazingly, when I got them all back together, they all synched right as the mail with minimal adjustments.
When I drove it home later tonight, there was no difference in performance. :)

I didn't take any pictures, so here's an oldie but a goodie ... The old thread had photos ...

You suck. I say that as a friend, who adores you, but Jim, you suck.

I spent 3 hours cleaning the garage, then the side of the houe. Then decided to clean Steve's cabby, which led to washing the car cover, which looks like will lead to some sewing to fix the rotted stitching in the cover. Cover is still good, but the stitching gave way. Yuck. Maybe I'll just take it to an upholstery shop...

Yesterday I replaced the coolant hoses and intercooler hoses on the Volvo. The intercooler hoses were unbelievably tight. Took me 4.5 hours to put the damn things on. I actually think they are just a little too small. Really can't figure out why they gave me such fits. GAHH!!!

Got all my boost back though. Boost rocks.

I stripped the paint off the tank of the bike I'm working on, cleaned the inside of it and put the first coat of primer on it.

I'm getting close on finishing this bike (one of my employees) and then I can get it out of my garage and get to MY bike. I got the fairing, side covers and seat cowl painted in Gulf blue. I still need to get the tank off and paint that and put the orange stripe on. Tune it up and put a new muffler on it and I'm good to go. I may ride it to Carlisle.

I'm with Angela, Jim you SUCK!
I left speedy with my VW "guru" last week for attention to an intermitent starting problem. He tells me he replaced the ignition switch because it had "dead spots" internally as you rotate the key. Monday he will eliminate an off-idle stumble and replace the brake light switch on the master cylinder. Medical problems deter my attending to these problems.

So what is speedy doing this weekend? She is transporting my guru and his fiancee on a "trouble shooting" drive as they inspect a house they hope to buy next month. Perfect weather, the house is out in the back country. Maybe I shoulda jumped in the back seat? NAH!

Yesterday, I looked at the car in the garage, decided it will get washed very soon, only a little dust on it from storage. Got out some 3/4" angle steel and made a frame for the auxillary stoplights. Have to drill some holes, then paint before welding to the chassis.

Today, didn't do a darn thing, except watch the rain clean the roads off, spring is here!
Saturday:
installed new dash switch, bezels, and knobs from Carey (look great, thanks!)
adjusted drivers side door latch and closer (so Wolfgang can open it next time)
"glued" in some nuts that had pulled from the fiberglass, could not tighten a couple things
cut aluminum trim at doors and dash to allow for better contouring
installed gasket at dash grab handle
polished aluminum on car
drove to taco bell in celebration of my accomplishments

Sunday: things went terribly wrong. I had only planned on adjusting valves and changing oil/filter for next weekends trip to Williamsburg... The car was 100% driveable this morning. now, not so much.

new things on list:
replace shift rod bushing
replace brake line that runs from MC to rear of car
replace clutch cable and shaft at pedals with new
replace 12 volt cable from battery to starter

clean up routing of wires and brake/fuel line so the heater control does not bend brake line 90 degrees or tear into 12v cable insulation creating a fire hazard ever again.

Sent a pic of the speedster to my girlfriend and was told it had better be back together for next weekends trip. Funny, My last girlfriend wanted nothing to do with the car. from one extreme to the other. My speedster is the same way.

Cory, again, rub, rub it in! You know Merlot is setting at Carey's place ready for the paint shop. My Mp Lafer also has a clutch, so I can't take that one either. Can't wait for the left knee implant to be declared road ready.

I did take an unexpected ride today...on my arse with the knee bent under it! Hurt? You better believe it! I try to yell SEX every time I get this type of treatment.

At least, I didn't get a ticket for speeding down the stairs! How much you goin' have to pay? Points, driver's school, etc.?

Breakin the law! Breakin the law!

Serves you right for driving a "ticket-me-red" car.

We waited til our weekend guests (Al and Heidi Gallo - Speedstah-folks from Cape Cod) were gone, then tore out the half-bath downstairs to "renovate" it.

Walked by the new, red speedster-under-construction quite a few times this weekend while getting tools and materials from the garage, but never touched it.

Hope to have the bath done by next weekend so I can get back to building the car. Stopped just as I was about to get the hood on.

Thanks for a great time , Gordon & Kathy! Another red speedster in the mix when it's done. (with a water pumper)

Got home Wed. (very cold and windy),and put the house back together.
Could not get to uncover the speedster till Sunday AM. 65 degrees and sunny, no rain yet. She fired right up and I was pressured into a 40 mile warm up and shake down by the bride. Life could be worse.

Hate to break the news but my wife used to love sailing before we got married. Now she looks at me like I'm crazy when I suggest going sailing. It's a trick they use to set the hook a little deeper. Once married you'll hear about that noisy, unsafe, leaky, little car!

(OK didn't help that we we couple miles out in Cheaspeake Bay by Windmill Point when a bid storm with lightening rolled in - made the trip in a single tack - heeled over the whole way.)
