As a newbie, what event should I attend that is in the MD, DC, PA, or VA area? Are there any coming up? Any advice would be helpful. I live in MD and Speedsters are hardly ever seen! Looking to talk to owners in person and to check out the different brands of replicas. Thanks!

Hey Newbee, I'm one too. Only had my speedster for a week. My wife and I live in Westminster MD. We recently attended the Hagerstown MD show "Simple-Transport". Was all VW or kit cars using VW engines. Not good as a parts show and very "tie-dye" oriented. We plan on going to Bug Out which is supposed to be huge in Manassas VA this Sunday. Also, there is The German Swap Meet at Ski Roundtop on the 15th of Sept. The GSM is supposed to have some Speedster Replicas. Good luck and maybe we'll see you on the roads!
Two must-attends: Carlisle in May and Alan Merklin's Pumpkin Run in October.
For sure: what Bruce said. Carlisle is the Biggie, no doubt about it -- 50 cars??. Pumpkin Run is much more local, and has been a very good 1-day ride around every time it's been done. A dozen or so cars/folks?? A small, but energetic, crowd.
there are local shows of the not necessarily Speedster variety here and there, where our cars are more than welcome, even if outnumbered. i suggest we use the Events thread to spin these up, as the spirit moves.
