Ok, folks, I know Mickey is gonna hate me, but it hit the low 70's today and I enjoyed it. Here are some pics of when Mike Lempert and I took our cars to Fort Moultrie. This fort predates the Revolutionary War and is situated on the south end of Sullivan's Island in Charleston Harbor.

Mike -- On our way to this joint, we stopped in Goose Bay, Canada, and Keflavik in Iceland. Goose Bay was sitting at -12F, and Keflavik was in the 0-5 degrees Farenheit range. Cold like that is unfit for man or beast.
I'm in ideal Speedster weather for about the next month. The boss here says I should be able to find an old VeeDub beater for less than 8,000 Djiboutian Francs. I'll worry about that when I stumble across one that has all four wheels and/or a key.
The exchange rate is something like 177.5:1 ... what is that? About $10US? And when it gets uber hot out, like the 130F they're promising, I'll roll out a recip saw!

Did you 'cruisers' take any pictures?
Nope.
No Photobucket, no Flickr, no nuthin' ... All Navy, All the Time.
I can access SOC because it isn't regarded as information sharing.
No thumb drives, either.
Teresa has purchased a new laptop for me; she'll mail that as soon as she gets it -- and then we'll be able to Skype and I'll be able to access the recreational wireless system here.
For now, I'm limited to looking at pictures people post.

I'm with you Mike!

Since about end of Nov we've only been warmer than minus 20 perhaps 4 or 5 times. It has been a long, cold winter and its only half over. Sunday looked promising as forecast was for minus 17 and windy so hoped to spend the afternoon kite skiing. Ended up minus 13 but no wind at all. Haven't even gone into the shelter where the IM is since probably early Dec.

Plus notes...new windshield is on its way courtesy of Cory in Edtn who took delivery and forwarded to me. Rec'd new "amber" fan shroud and ancilaries from Getty Design last week so everything should be here now to take freshen up the 911S engine and finally install in the IM.

Need to get rid of the old 66 Porsche shell that's in the garage so I can move the IM in there and get this work done....
Well mine has had the lower dash cover off ever sense Thanksgving. Sundy was so nice i finished the twin heater instal and had some time to ride around 70 Sunday nice today and tomorrow. I found i had a bad strut on the super beetle this afternoon we took it a part to check the steering box and universial joints on it. it still turns stiff he struts are nearly gone but its the shock tower cap bearing that has gone bad on the passenger side. I guess I better replace it all. Its the best and right way But This is not a good time to have to spend my dwindleing money supply.... but It is nice here I will be out in the D some now.. Sorry Mike,, I do hate it for you. but I do understand ,it was pretty cold and ugly here last month...

Lane.?? I meet a tall gray headed fella this past week that was looking for Vw Split window cabs. He also said he has 2 real Porsches and wanted to see mine I didn't give him to much info on perpose a bout where I lived. Now days I'm not to forth coming with info like that. but sense you a bit closer do you by chance know of a speedster owner with a silver one in the is area??
Lane: When you comin' out east? I am in the DC metro area, and can hook up if it works out. Might be when I'm headed to SoCal and looking to visit w/ MUSB around the 25th. Anyhow, pls give dates so we can figure what to do. Mickey's place is a few hours away up north toward Philly -- nothin' quick about a visit to his place.

Cory: good to hear from you again old sport. Saw other posts on other threads, and the "report from the front". Keep 'em coming. We think (worry) about you often. And do tell if there is something needed that we can deliver. Will move heaven and earth to do it.
