Parkscheibe - Germany has many established laws based on honor - that would fail miserably here but work amazing well there. Say you park in a 2 hour parking area - you round up to the hour and indicate time you parked on the Park-o-Meter. Then you are expected to return and leave 2 hours later. It's mainly an honor system --- but don't get caught violating it or your get a stiff fine (or quickly towed off).
Germans love dogs in restauants but frown on children in them! In towns with narrow streets you park with two wheels on the curb/side walk and leave the turn signal on (solid) so you don't get hit. Run over a hen and you'll pay for the eggs she might produce in a lifetime.
