I'm stunned how close to "proper" the louvers actually are. The guy had the right idea anyhow - trying to get more air into the engine compartment. Execution might have been more elegant... but I'm the guy with the Super/Duper badge, so who am I trying to fool?

I've always been a sucker for the exhaust coming through the fender as on a WW2 fighter plane, but this looks a bit more like a municipal storm sewer discharge than a P51 Mustang (which is too bad).

Probably the most jarring aspect of the entire rig is the paintjob on the hood.

There's no coming back from that.

I'm betting the guy has a really steep transition from road to sidewalk to driveway  (all you flatlanders will have no clue of which I speak) and he finally got tired of re-doing his exhaust tip.  I'm contemplating exactly that on my FJ Cruiser as is seems every 4th or so time we go out I come off a rock and flatten the exhaust tip.  Stock it goes straight back to just below the rear bumper- twice it's been replaced, next I had the guy move it over to the side as high as possible just behind the rear mud flap (the muffler guy said "it'll never get hit there!) and it's bent and the tip's flattened AGAIN!  You sharp eyed people will notice the part circle of missing/melted mudflap on the lower inside edge and melted piece where the tailpipe currently  contacts the plastic lower bumper facia- a new, high clearance custom bumper (maybe out of aluminum- I'm weight conscious with this whale as well) is in the planning stages -

FJ- tailpipe bent AGAIN!

Next round I'm thinking of something like this-

Fj- tailpipe repositioning

It may seem a little extreme, but I'm sure El Guapo (and anyone else who gets offroad) will be able to relate!   The screen on the Speedster does seem a little much- his garage has a rodent issue, or maybe State MOT law (or whatever you guys call it) dictate that an exhaust tip coming out of bodywork has to be shielded so one can't brush up against it and burn themselves ?
