Just thought it would be fun to post what kind cars have fallen into the spyder's web and got chewed up and spit out. Doesn't have to be official 1/4 times and slips; simply at the stop light. We should post our list of victims for the whole spyder world to enjoy. Also we should list what kind of engine we're running so maybe persons considering a new engine purchase will know what to buy to slay our enemies.

Anthony?? As an oldtime 356 driver, I was never under the impression that these (550,s included) were stright line racers. I know a few 7/800 whp superas, that I would beware of. How be it I belive we could out "drive" them on a road course. Just a thought. PS to George: These Boyzz are getting close to five sec 1/4 miles. Doug
Douglas, I find it hard to believe that a Supra or any car with only 800 hp could possibly turn a low 6 sec 1/4 mile time. I have a friend with a Top Alcohol Dragster with a blown Fontana that puts out 3000 hp on alcohol. I am not sure of the weight but it is probably less than 2000 pounds. His best 1/4 mile time is 5.86 seconds. I will admit I have not kept up with drag racing lately, but the power to weight ratio needed to get a car in the low 6 second range must be about 1 pound per HP.
Bob Tomlinson's street driven Beck 550 with a turbo 1,955 does 10 second 1/4 miles with a terminal 1/4 mile velocity of 137 mph. That will blitz any car you'll probably run into on the street. How much faster do you neeed to go?

I've had a passenger seat ride in that car and it came real close to scaring me.

CB Performance can build you a higher BHP/torque turbo engine but you would also have to address transaxle strength and suspension issues.

I've never heard of any car, regardless of hp, besting 10 seconds on street tires. I once saw a corvette, advertised as the quickest street legal quarter miler on the planet in DuPont registry, about 5 years ago. It was 750hp, ran 10's on street tires with cat's and everything. I don't think an 800hp supra will be any faster.
Aloha,

BF Goodrich Drag T/A Radials are supposed to be "street" legal tires that can produce grip second only to actually using a drag slick.

I suppose it all depends on your definition of street driven. I know several guys here on O'ahu that have blistering fast VW's they consider "drivers" even though they only drive them on the weekends, in cool weather, not on the highway and no farther than 10 miles. Not much of a driver if you ask me. But, hey...they're street driven!
