I know this is the classifieds -- so first, does anyone have decklid and hood rubber seals available? I'd like to send someone some cash for them if there are any available out there.
Same also with the rubbers for the tail lights. Mine are shot and they've got too much goo on the insides to re-use.

Otherwise ...

I'm looking for some industrial-grade stuff to put between my decklid, hood and steel tonneau and the rest of the body parts. I'd like to find some that sticks on only one side and creates a PolyGrip-like seal when I compress it.
Depending on how well it works in the hidden areas, I might like to seal up my door openings with it, too.
For now, I'm going to use hood pins to hold the three detachable parts onto the car. This seal is going to be critical to my overall design success.

Believe it or not, JC Whitney has some pretty good stuff. Search their site under "weather seal," "door seal," "rubber seal," "weather stripping," that kind of thing. They have various profiles pictured, you can call for samples and it's sold by the foot in a lot of instances.

They also have the felt channel for windows, window scraper material, and a bunch of other cool things that you wouldn't expect.

Maybe?

I think I'll do both.
I wanna see what the thickness is, using the Merklin Method, and then I'll try a bunch of stuff from Whitney, Home Depot, West Marine ... whomever ... to see what works best.
I'll be looking at the Whitney catalog offerings this evening to see what they have.
As always, thanks. I'm going to be doing the 'hunch-monkey' until Friday at the earliest, using the creeper and the stadium seat-pad as I drill about three billion little 1/8-in. holes in the the sheet metal and chassis. Whoopie, what a time I'll have.
Have a delicious and refreshing beverage and think of me. I'll be tapping a stout Irish barley-pop Friday night if all goes well.

Mr. Jones, I am inspired by your hood handle drilling efforts as I prepare to make a lawn sprinkler out of my frame. Work will commence promptly at 0730 tomorrow.
Right-o. I'll be sure to take photos, too.
I may be back on here Wednesday, briefly, but I really am going to be neck-deep in goat meat until Saturday morning. I've been dreading this pre-assembly stuff for months, and I might as well knock it out in one swell foop.
See y'all Wednesday.
