Hello Mark, and congrats on joining this mad-house here... I find your question kinda funny... "What would you pay for this car?" That is NOT the question my friend... the real question is what YOU are willing to pay for it... I got mine! LOL... I am sure you have done some homework around this model and features... We all love Speedies here so we may be a little proud about our rides and their worth...

Good luck and I hope you pull that trigger and join the madness...

Speedster "D"
Mark -

Based on your description of the car (year of Mfg. ?) I would hazard to guess that the market value of that car would be around $19-21K.

It seems that the added value in this particular Speedy would be the (documented) engine work, everything else would seem to me to be standard off-the-shelf add-ons. If not for the engine work, I would say $16-18K.

Another factor would be the (relatively high) number of Speedy's currently for sale through various media.

While I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination (there are many others on this site that ARE), that would be my criteria on relative value.

Good luck with your endeavor.
Well, all I can say is I really like that color -- think I'll get one just like it. Look on evil-bay, scan the Hemmings book, the SOC classifieds, and you'll get a grip on the market, I'd guess. Call up SAW and ask them how much for a new one built like this one. Then go check the bank account and dive in. Have you driven it? If so, then all this talk is moot, as you will be hooked already. Give in, pay the money and don't look back.
WOW, only 900 miles and a brand new engine!!!!!!! God I hope he means 900 since all of the work? Otherwise your faced with two scenerios;

1. The car had a real piece of junk engine and needed replaced, but then why the new transmission? Or the car actually has many more miles on it then this, and the odometer was one of the things replaced.

2. He is talking about the mileage since rebuild, what is the mileage on everything else?

Who actually built it. Vintage also sells kits. This may actually improve the value or decrease it, just depends on how they did the work

Get someone who really knows these cars to look at it for you.
You say it's built by Vintage?
I'll stick my neck out and say it's not a real Turn-key Vintage Speedster.
With a built Motor with Webers, Custom Exhaust, Center Console, and Roll Bar: these are all non-standard items for a Vintage, and I doubt if they would add them.
The fact that you mention that there are many new and rebuilt components makes no sense: Everything is new if it's a real Vintage Speedster.
Don't spend any money on this car until you determine if it's a real Vintage Speedster.
If the seller has misrepresented the builder, then what else has he misrepresented?
Mark, what was the original sticker on the car and when was it produced? The Vintage Speedster is generally regarded to be on the low end of the replica Speedster market, not that there is anything wrong with that, but many consider this to be an entry level car. Vintage is the largest producer and turns out a nice product for the price. I would wager that the car should sell somewhere in the high teens to low twenties.

ps. It is not necessary to post on multiple pages; your question will get read. Also, have you read the stickey related to "Ready for a Speedster Replica? - (Everything you need to know)" yet?
The car is worth about $20,000. Actually, it's worth more, but the market for a used replica is always below value. I would expect a car like that to list for $28,000 at VS. Just an opnion. I've never priced one of Kirk's cars. And I don't consider them to be low end. IM get's a fortune for a fine hand built car.
Mark,
Did you buy the car from Vintage?
