what to look for in an CMC car

I see a good looking restoration of an CMC and wondered what to look for on these. Are they orphans, or a precursor to the Vintage Speedsters? The car is on Ebay. Will vintage parts(like a new top)fit?

CMC's are a pre Vintage Speedster(Vintage has done many improvments)Done right a CMC is a decent speedster, some have been assembled by shade tree engineers and that's when it can, get scary but most anything is easily fixed. Usually CMC faults are minor fiberglass cracks, door alignment and drooping rear body section(easy fixes)
Most VS parts (top, tonneau, interior, trim etc. will fit.

I agree with Alan. It really depends on the person who assembled the car. There are some really nice CMC cars out there. The fiberglass jell-coat seams to be considerably thicker on the CMCs....which I kinda like. The factory fit of doors ,hoods and deck lids are sometimes not as good as a vintage or beck...but....a good body shop can take car of that. I would not rule the car out just because it's a CMC....You really need to check them out. There are still some really nice ones still out there!
